¹ Know this also that in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come. ² For men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous (lovers of money), arrogant, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful (ungrateful), unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, despisers of those who are good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

⁷ Oppression makes a wise man foolish (emotionally unstable) (mentally ill) and a bribe destroys the heart.

¹² I know you have many transgressions and your sins are great. You afflict the righteous. You take bribes. You refuse to help the needy at the gate.
