³⁷ »If I am not doing the works of my Father, do not believe me.

⁴⁴ »No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him. I will resurrect him (raise him up) in the last day.

²² Flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord with a clean heart. ²³ But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing they produce quarrels (controversy) (fighting). ²⁴ The Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind (gentle) to all, able to teach, and patient when wronged. ²⁵ He should instruct those who oppose using meekness. ⁸ See to it that no one enslaves you by means of philosophy and worthless deceit of human wisdom according to tradition of men. It is according to the elementary principles of the world, and not from Christ.

He sends them wandering through a pathless wilderness. ²⁵ »They grope in darkness without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man.

¹⁴ But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to him! He cannot know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹ The Spirit explicitly says that some will fall away from the faith (truth) in later times. Spirits and doctrines of demons will seduce them, ² through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron. ³ They will forbid marrying, [and command] to abstain from food, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. ⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving. ⁵ This is because it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.

¹⁹ That which is known about God is clear to them, for God revealed it to them. ²⁰ His invisible attributes are clearly seen since the creation of the world. The things made prove His eternal power and divine nature. Mankind has no excuse,

¹ ([Psalm of David]) The fool says in his heart: »There is no God (Jehovah) (Psalm 10:4).« They are corrupt. They do disgusting things. No one does good things.

¹⁸ They are darkened (blinded) (obscured) in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart.
