Bible verses about "prophets" | NHEB

Deuteronomy 13:1-5

1 If there arise in the midst of you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder come to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, "Let us go after other gods" (which you have not known) "and let us serve them"; 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proves you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 You shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cling to him. 5 That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

1 Corinthians 14:26-33

26 What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up. 27 If anyone speaks in another language, let it be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church, and let him speak to himself, and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the others discern. 30 But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets, 33 for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

Amos 3:7

7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

Hebrews 1:1-2

1 God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.

1 John 4:1

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Peter 1:21

21 For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
