Bible verses about "morning prayer" | NHEB

Job 1:1-22

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil. 2 There were born to him seven sons and three daughters. 3 His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east. 4 His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. 5 It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts." Job did so continually. 6 Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, that Satan also came among them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." 8 The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil." 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face." 12 The LORD said to Satan, "Look, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself do not put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. 13 It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, 14 that there came a messenger to Job, and said, "The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 and Sheba attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you." 16 While he was still speaking, there also came another, and said, "The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you." 17 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you." 18 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, 19 and look, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you." 20 Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped. 21 He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD." 22 In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

Psalms 5:1-12

1 Listen to my words, LORD. Consider my meditation. 2 Give attention to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for to you do I pray. 3 LORD, in the morning you shall hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and watch. 4 For you are not a God who desires wickedness. Evil can't live with you. 5 The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all evildoers. 6 You will destroy those who speak lies. The LORD despises a person of bloodshed and deceit. 7 But as for me, in the abundance of your loving kindness I will enter into your house. I will bow toward your holy temple in reverence of you. 8 Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your way straight before me. 9 For there is nothing reliable in their mouth. Their heart is destruction. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they flatter. 10 Hold them guilty, God. Let them fall by their own counsels. Cast them out because of the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against you. 11 But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice. Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. And let those who love your name be joyful in you. 12 For you bless the righteous, LORD. You surround him with favor like a shield.

Psalms 5:7

7 But as for me, in the abundance of your loving kindness I will enter into your house. I will bow toward your holy temple in reverence of you.

Psalms 51:1-19

1 Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me. 4 Against you, and you only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight; that you may be proved right when you speak, and justified when you judge. 5 Look, I was brought forth in iniquity. In sin my mother conceived me. 6 Look, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place. 7 Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness, That the bones which you have broken may rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all of my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. 11 Do not throw me from your presence, and do not take your holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways. Sinners shall be converted to you. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation. My tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness. 15 Lord, open my lips. My mouth shall declare your praise. 16 For you do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. 18 Do well in your good pleasure to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.

Psalms 104:30

Genesis 1:1-31

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was on the surface of the watery depths. And God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. There was evening and there was morning, one day. 6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." And it was so. 7 And God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. 8 And God called the expanse Sky. And God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a second day. 9 And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together in one gathering, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. And the waters under the sky gathered to their gatherings, and the dry land appeared. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with its seed in it, on the earth." And it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with its seed in it, after their kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day. 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and for years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of sky to give light to the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. 20 And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky." And it was so. 21 And God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." 23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. 24 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind." And it was so. 25 And God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good. 26 And God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 And God created man in his own image. In Godʼs image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." 29 And God said, "Look, I have given you every plant yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. 30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and look, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

Psalms 91:5-7

5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; 6 nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.

I will lift up my hands in your name. 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips, 6 when I remember you on my bed, and think about you in the night watches. 7 For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings. 8 My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up. 9 But those who seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. 10 They shall be given over to the power of the sword. They shall be jackal food. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God. Everyone who swears by him will praise him, for the mouth of those who speak lies shall be silenced.
