³⁰ They said therefore to him, "What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do? ³¹ Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, 'He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.'" ³² Jesus therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." ³⁴ They said therefore to him, "Lord, always give us this bread." ³⁵ Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. ³⁶ But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you do not believe. ³⁷ All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. Him who comes to me I will in no way throw out. ³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. ³⁹ This is the will of him who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁰ This is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made through him, and apart from him nothing was made that has been made. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity.

¹⁶ For God loved the world in this way: He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not perish, but have everlasting life.
