¹⁷ They offered vnto felde deuils and not to God, & to Gods whych they knewe not, & to newe Gods that came newly vp which theyr fathers feared not.

² There is not a godlye man vpon earth, there is not one ryghtuous amonge men. They laboure al to shed bloud, and euery man hunteth his brother to death:

²⁸ For it semed good to the holye ghost & to vs, to put no greuous thyng to you more then these necessarye thynges, ²⁹ that is to saye that ye abstayne from thynges offered to ymages, from bloude, from strangled and fornicacion. From which yf ye kepe your selues ye shall do well. So fare ye well.

¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges.

¹⁹ and sayd: God forbyd yt me, that I shoulde do thys thynge, that I shoulde dryncke the bloude of these men that haue put theyr lyues in Ieopardye (for with the Ieopardye of theyr lyues they brought yt) & therfore he woulde not dryncke it. This dyd the thre myghtyest.

¹¹ He that bringeth vp an euell reporte vpon the generacion of hys father and mother, is not worthy to be commended. ¹² The generacion that thynke them selfes cleane, shall not be clensed from their filthynesse. ¹³ There are people that haue a proude loke, and cast vp their eye lyddes. ¹⁴ This peoples teth are swerdes, and with their chafte bones they consume and deuour the simple of the earth, and the poore from among men. ¹⁵ This generacion (whiche is lyke an horslech) hath two daughters: the one is called, fetch hither, and the other bring hyther. ¹⁶ There be thre thinges that are neuer satisfied, and the forth sayeth neuer hoo. The hell, a womans wombe, and the earthe hath neuer water ynough. As for fyre, it sayeth neuer, hoo. ¹⁷ Who so laugheth hys father to scorne, and setteth his mothers commaundement at naughte: the rauens pycke out hys eyes in the valley, and deuoured be he of the yonge Aegles. ¹⁸ There be thre thinges to hye for me, and as for the forth, it passeth my knowledge.

⁸ And they had heere as the heere of women. And theyr teeth were as the teeth of Lyons.

⁶ And I saw the wyfe drounken with the bloude of Saynctes, and with the bloud of the wytnesses of Iesu. And when I saw her, I wondred wyth great maruayle.

²³ But be strong that thou eate not the bloude. For the bloud that is the life & thou mayst not eate the life with the flesh:

⁶ Yea, a myghtye and an innumerable people shal come vp into my lande: these haue teeth lyke the teethe of Lyons, and chaftbones lyke the lyonesses.

⁶ for they shed out the bloud of sainctes, & prophetes, & therfore hast thou geuen them bloud to drinke, for they are worthy.

¹⁰ And whatsoeuer man it be of the house of Israel or of the straungers that soiourne amonge you that eateth any maner of bloude, I wyll sett my face agaynst that soule that eateth bloud, and wil destroy him from amonge hys people, ¹¹ for the lyfe of the flesh is in the bloud, and I haue geuen it vnto you vpon the alter, to make an attonement for youre soules, ¹² for bloude shall make an attonement for the soule. And therfore I sayd vnto the chyldren of Israel: se that no soule of you eate bloude, nor yet any straunger that soiourneth amonge you. ¹³ Whatsoeuer man it be of the chyldren of Israell or of the straungers that soiourne amonge you that hunteth and catcheth anye beest or foule that may be eaten, he shal poure out the bloud and couer it wyth erth, ¹⁴ for the lyfe of all fleshe is in the bloude, therfore I sayd vnto the children of Israel ye shal eate the bloude of no maner of flesh, for the lyfe of all flesh is in hys bloude, and whosoeuer therfore eateth it shall perysh.
