¹ Moyses kepte the sheepe of Iethro hys father in lawe prieste of Madian, and he droue the flocke to the backesyde of the deserte, and came to the mountayne of God, Horeb. ² And the Angell of the Lorde appeared vnto hym in a flame of fyre oute of a bushe. And he perceyued that the bush burned wyth fyre, and consumed not. ³ Then Moyses sayed: I wyll go hence, and se thys greate syghte howe it commeth that the bush burneth not. ⁴ And when the Lord sawe that he came for to see, he called to hym out of the bushe, and sayed: Moyses, Moyses. And he answered: here am I. ⁵ And he sayed: Come not hyther, but put thy shooes of thy fete: for the place wheron thou standest is holy ground. ⁶ And he sayed: I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob. And Moses hyd hys face for he was afrayed to loke vpon God. ⁷ Then the Lorde sayed: I haue surelye sene the trouble of mi people which ar in Egipt, and haue heard their cry whyche they haue of their taskemasters. For I know theyr sorow, ⁸ and am come downe to deliuer them out of the handes of the Egyptians, & to bringe them out of that land vnto a good lande & a large, & vnto a land that floweth with milke & hony: euen vnto the place of the Cananites Hethites, Amorites, Pherezites, Heuites, & of the Iebusites. ⁹ Nowe therfore behold, the complaynt of the chyldren of Israel is come vnto me, and I haue also sene the oppression wherwyth the Egyptians oppresse them. ¹⁰ But come, I wyl sende vnto Pharao, that thou maist bring my people, the children of Israel out of Egypt. ¹¹ And Moyses said vnto God: what am I to go vnto Pharao, & to brynge the chyldren of Israell out of Egypt? ¹² And he sayde: I wyll be wt the. And this shalbe a token vnto the that I haue sente the, after that thou hast brought the people out of Egyte, ye shall serue God vpon thys mountayne. ¹³ Then said Moses vnto God: when I come vnto the children of Israel & say vnto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me vnto you & they say vnto me, what is hys name, what answer shal I gyue them? ¹⁴ Then sayd God vnto Moyses: I wilbe what I wyll be: & he said, this shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel: I wilbe did send me to you. ¹⁵ And God spake further vnto Moyses: thus shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel: the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, & the God of Iacob hath sent me vnto you: this is my name for euer, and thys is my memorial thorowout al generations. ¹⁶ Goo therfore & gather the elders of Israell togyther, & say vnto them: the Lorde God of youre fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob appeared vnto me, and sayed. I haue bene and sene both you and that which is done to you in Egypte. ¹⁷ And I haue sayed it, that I wyll brynge you out of the tribulation of Egypte vnto the Lande of the Cananites, Hethites, Amorites, Pherezites, Heuites, and Iebusites: euen a land that floweth wt milke & hony. ¹⁸ If it come to passe that they heare thy voice then go, boeth thou and the elders of Israel vnto the kyng of Egypt, and say vnto him: The Lorde God of the Hebrues hath mette with vs: let vs go therfore .iij. dayes iourney into the wyldernes, that we maye sacrifice vnto the Lord our God. ¹⁹ Notwithstandynge I am sure that the kyng of Egypte wyl not let you go, except it be wyth a myghty hand: ²⁰ yea, & I wil therfore stretche out myne hand & smyte Egypt wyth al my wonders which I wyll do therin. And after that he wyll lett you goo. ²¹ And I wyll gette this people fauour in the syghte of the Egyptians: so that when ye go, ye shall not go emptye: ²² but euery wyfe shall borowe of hyr neyghbouresse, & of hyr that soiourneth in hir house, iewels of siluer and of gold & rayment. And ye shal put them on youre sonnes & daughters, and shal robbe the Egyptians.

³ For the Lord is a great God, and a great kyng aboue all Goddes. ⁴ In his hand are al the corners of the earth, and the strength of the hylles is his also. ⁵ The sea is his, for he made it, & his handes prepared the drye lande.

¹⁵ For thus sayeth the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one. I dwell hye aboue & in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite & humble spirite: that I maye heale a troubled mind, & a contrite hert.

¹ These are the Sermons of Ieremy the sonne of Helkiah the prieste, one of them that dwelt at Anathoth in the land of Beniamin: ² when the Lorde had fyrste spoken wyth him in the tyme of Iosiah the sonne of Amon kinge of Iuda, in the .xiij. yeare of his kingdome, ³ and so during vnto the tyme of Iehoakim the sonne of Iosiah kynge of Iuda, and vntill .xi. yeares of Zedekiah the sonne of Iosiah kinge of Iuda were ended: when Ierusalem was taken, euen in the fyfth Moneth. ⁴ The worde of the Lord spake thus vnto me: ⁵ Before I fashyoned the in thy mothers wombe, I did know the. And or euer thou wast borne, I sanctifyed the, and ordeyned the, to be a Prophete vnto the people. ⁶ Then sayde I: Oh Lorde God, I am vnmete, for I am yet but younge. ⁷ And the Lorde answered me thus: Saye not so, I am to younge. For thou shalt go to al that I shall sende the vnto, and whatsoeuer I commaund the, that shalt thou speake. ⁸ Be not afrayed of their faces, for I wilbe with the, to delyuer the, sayeth the Lorde. ⁹ And with that, the Lorde stretched oute his hande, and touched my mouthe, and sayde moreouer vnto me. Beholde I put my wordes in thy mouth, ¹⁰ & this daye do I set the ouer the people & kingedomes, that thou mayest rote oute, breake of, destroye, & make waste: and that thou mayest buylde vp and plante. ¹¹ After thys, the Lorde spake vnto me sayinge: Ieremy, what seyst thou? And I sayde: I se a wakinge roade. ¹² Then sayde the Lord: thou hast sene ryght, for I will watch diligentlye vpon my worde, to perfourme it. ¹³ It happened afterwarde, that the Lorde spake to me againe, and sayde: What seyst thou? And I sayd: I do se a seethinge pot, lokinge from oute of the North hytherward. ¹⁴ Then saide the Lorde vnto me: Oute of the Northe shall come a plage vpon all the dwellers of the lande. ¹⁵ For lo, I wil cal all the officers of the kingdomes of the north (saieth the Lorde.) And they shall come, and euery one shall set the seate in the gates of Ierusalem, and in al their walles round aboute and thorowe al the cytyes of Iuda. ¹⁶ And thorowe them shall I declare my iudgement, vpon all the wyckednesse of those men that haue forsaken me: that haue offered vnto straunge Goddes, and worshipped the workes of their owne handes. ¹⁷ And therfore gyrde vp thy loines, arise, and tell them al, that I geue the in commaundement. Feare them not, I will not haue the to be afrayed of them. ¹⁸ For beholde, this daye do I make the a strong fensed towne, an yron pyler, and a wall of stele agaynst the whole lande, against the kinges and myghtye men of Iuda, agaynste the priestes and people of the lande. ¹⁹ They shall fyght against the, but they shall not be able to ouercome the: for I am with the, to delyuer the, sayeth the Lord.

²¹ For the scrypture came neuer by the wyl of man, but holye men of God spake as they were moued by the holy ghoste.

¹ In the begynnynge was the worde, and the word was with God, & the worde was God.

⁷ He stretched oute the north ouer the emptie, & hangeth the earth vpon nothinge.

⁶ that he myght shewe the (out of his secrete wysdome) howe manyfolde his Lawe is: then shuldest thou knowe, that God had forgotten the, because of thy synnes. ⁷ Wylt thou fynde out God with thy sekinge? wilt thou attayne to the perfectnesse of the almyghtye?

³³ O the deapnes of the abundaunte wysedome and knoweledge of God: howe vnsearcheable are his iudgementes, and hys wayes paste fyndynge out? ³⁴ For who hath knoweth the mynde of the Lord? Or who was his counseller? ³⁵ Other who hath geuen vnto hym fyrst that he myghte be recompensed agayne? ³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

²² That he sytteth vpon the circle of the worlde, and that al the inhabytours of the worlde are in comparison of him, but as greshoppers: That he spredeth out the heauens as a coueryng, that he stretcheth them out, as a tent to dwell in:

⁸ For thus saith the Lorde: my thoughtes are not youre thoughtes, & youre wayes are not my wayes, ⁹ but as farre as the heauens are hyer then the earth, so farre do my wayes exceade yours, and my thoughtes yours.
