² If ther be found among you in any of the cityes whych the Lord thy God geueth the man or woman that hath wrought wyckednes in the syght of the Lord thy God, that they haue gone beyond his appoyntment, ³ so that they haue gone & serued straung Gods and worshypped them, whether it be the sunne or mone or any thing contayned in heauen which I forbade, ⁴ and it was told the and thou hast heard of it: then thou shalt enquire diligently. And if it be true and the thynge of a suretye that suche abhomination is wrought in Israell then ⁵ thou shalt bryng forth that man or that woman which haue committed that wicked thing, vnto the gates and shalt stone them with stones, and they shal dye.

⁹ When thou arte in to the lande whyche the Lorde thy God geueth the, se that thou lerne not to do after the abhominacions of these nacyons.

²³ For rebellyousnesse is as the synne of witchcrafte, & stoburnesse is wyckednesse and Idolatrye. Because therfore thou hast cast awaye the worde of the Lorde, therfore hath the Lorde caste awaye the also, from beynge Kynge.

¹³ And so Saul dyed for hys trespace that he trespaced agaynst the Lorde, in that he kept not the worde of the Lorde, and in that he asked councell of a woman that wrought with a sprite,

¹ Thys is the worde of the Lord that came vnto Micheas the Morastite, in the dayes of Iothan, Ahas & Iehezekiah kinges of Iuda: which was shewed hym vpon Samaria & Ierusalem. ² Heare all ye people, marcke thys well O earth, and all that therin is: Yee the Lorde God hym selfe be wytnesse amonge you, euen the Lord from hys holy temple. ³ For why? beholde, the Lord shal go oute of his place, & come downe & treade vpon the hye thynges of the earth. ⁴ The mountaynes shall consume vnder hym, and the valleyes shall cleue asunder, lyke as wax consumeth at the fyre, & as the waters runne downwarde. ⁵ And all this shall be for the wyckednesse of Iacob, and the synnes of the house of Israell. But what is the wyckednesse of Iacob? Is not Samaria? Whiche are the hye places of Iuda? For euen as the flower of the grasse, shal he vanysh away. ¹¹ The sonne riseth with heat, and the grasse widereth, and hys flower falleth awaye, & the beautye of the fashyon of it perysheth: euen so shal the ryche man peryshe wyth hys aboundaunce. ¹² Happy is the man that endureth in temptacyon, for when he is tryed, he shal receyue the croune of lyfe, which the Lorde hath promised to them that loue hym. ¹³ Let no man saye when he is tempted, that he is tempted of God. For god tempteth not vnto euyl, neyther tempteth he any man: ¹⁴ But euerye man is tempted, drawne awaye, & entysed of hys owne concupiscence. ¹⁵ Then when luste hath conceyued, she bringeth forth sinne, & sinne when it is fynyshed bryngeth forthe death. ¹⁶ Erre not my deare brethren. ¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes. ¹⁸ Of hys owne wyll begat he vs wyth the worde of lyfe, that we shoulde be the fyrste frutes of hys creatures. ¹⁹ Wherfore deare brethren, let euerye man be swyfte to heare, slowe to speake, and slow to wrath. ²⁰ For the wrath of man worketh not that whiche is ryghtuous before God. ²¹ Wherfore laye a parte all fylthynes, all superfluytye of malycyousnes, and receyue wyth mekenes the worde that is grafted in you, whiche is able to saue your soules. ²² And se that ye be doars of the worde & not hearers onely, deceyuyng your owne selues wyth sophystrye. ²³ For yf any heare the word, and do it not, he is lyke vnto a man that beholdeth his bodly face in a glasse. ²⁴ For assone as he hath loked on hym selfe, he goeth hys waye, and forgetteth immediatly what hys fashyon was. ²⁵ But who so loketh in the perfecte lawe of lybertye, and contynueth therin (yf he be not a forgetfull hearer, but a doar of the worke) the same shall be happye in hys dede. ²⁶ Yf anye man amonge you seme deuoute, & refrayne not his tonge, but deceyue his owne hert: thys mannes deuocyon is in vayne. ²⁷ Pure deuocyon and vndefyled before God the father is thys: to visite the fatherlesse and wyddowes in theyr aduersitye, and to kepe hym selfe vnspotted of the worlde.

But the Lorde thy God permytteth not that to the.

¹³ Thou haste hytherto had manye councels of them, so let the heauengasers & the beholders of starres come on now and delyuer the: yea & let them shewe, when these new thynges shal come vpon the. ¹⁴ Beholde, they shalbe lyke strawe, whiche yf it be kindled with fyre, no man may rydde it for the vehemence of the flame: And yet it geueth no synners to warme a man by, nor cleare fyre to sit by. ¹⁵ Euen so shall they be vnto the whome thou haste vsed and occupied from thy youthe.
