⁹ When ye reape doune the rype corne of your lande, ye shall not repe doune the vtmost borders of youre feldes, nether shalt thou gather that whyche is left behynde in thy haruest. ¹⁰ Thou shalt not plucke in al thy vyneyarde cleane, nether gather in the grapes that are ouerscaped. But thou shalt leaue them for the poore and straunger. I am the Lord your God.

¹ A Psalme of Asaph. God standeth in the congregacion of the Goddes, and is a iudge amonge the iudges. ² How long will ye geue wrong iudgement, and accept the personnes of the vngodly? Selah. ³ Defende the poore and fatherlesse, se that suche as be in nede & necessitie haue right. ⁴ Deliuer the outcaste & poore, & saue hym from the hande of the vngodly. ⁵ Neuerthelesse, they will not be learned & vnderstande, but walke on styll in darkenesse: therfore must all the foundacions of the lande be moued. ⁶ I haue sayde: ye are Goddes, ye all are the chyldren of the moost hyest. ⁷ But ye shall dye lyke men, and fall lyke one of the tyrauntes. ⁸ Aryse, O God, & iudge thou the earth, for all the Heathen are thyne by enheritaunce.

⁵ Who so laugheth the pore to scorne blasphemeth hys maker: & he that is glad of another mans hurt, shall not be vnpunished.

⁷ The rightuous consydereth the cause of the poore, but the vngodly regardeth no vnderstandynge.

⁴ Ryches make many frendes, but the poore is forsaken of his own frendes.

⁷ The rich ruleth the pore, & the borower is seruant to the lender.

³³ Yea slepe on styl a lytle, slomber a lytle, fold thyne handes together yet a lytle, ³⁴ so shal pouertye come vnto the as one that trauayleth by the way, and necessite like a weapened man.

¹¹ The rych man thyncketh him selfe to be wyse, but the poore that hath vnderstandynge can perceaue him well ynough.

¹ When he sawe the people, he went vp into a mountaine, and when he was set his disciples came to him, ² and he opened his mouth, and taught them sayinge, ³ blessed are the pore in sprete: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen. ⁴ Blessed are they that morne, for they shalbe comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meke: for they shall inheret the earth. ⁶ Blessed are they which honger & thurste for rightuousnes: for they shalbe filled. ⁷ Blessed are the mercifull: for they shal obtaine mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in hert: for thei shal se God. ⁹ Blessed are the peace makers: for thei shalbe called the children of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are they which suffer persecucion for rightuousnesse sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen: ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men reuile you and persecute you, and shal falsely say al maner of yuel sayinges against you for my sake. ¹² Reioyce & be glad, for great is your reward in heauen. For so persecuted they the prophetes which were before your dayes. ¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth: but & if the salt haue lost her saltnes, what can be salted therwith? It is thensforth good for nothinge, but to be cast out, and to be troden vnder fote of men. ¹⁴ Ye are the light of the worlde. A cytye that is set on an hill, can not be hid, ¹⁵ neither do men light a candell & put it vnder a bushell, but on a candelsticke, and it lighteth al that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shyne before men that they maye se your good workes, and gloryfye your father which is in heauen. ¹⁷ Thinke not that I am come to destroy the lawe, or the prophetes: no I am not come to destroy them, but to fulfil them. ¹⁸ For truly I say vnto you, til heauen & earth perish, one iote or one title of the lawe shal not escape, til al be fulfilled ¹⁹ Whosoeuer therfore breaketh one of these lest commaundementes, & teacheth men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdome of heauen. But whosoeuer obserueth & teacheth, the same shal be called great in the kingdom of heauen. ²⁰ For I say vnto you except your rightuousnes excede, the rightuousnes of the scribes & phariseis, ye can not entre into the kingdom of heauen. ²¹ Ye haue heard howe it was said vnto them of the olde time: Thou shalt not kil. For whosoeuer killeth, shal be in daunger of iudgement, ²² but I sai vnto yow, whosoeuer is angre wt his brother without a cause shal be in daunger of iudgement. Whosoeuer saieth to his brother Racha, shalbe in daunger of a counsel. But whosoeuer saieth thou fole, shalbe in daunger of hel fire ²³ Therefore when thou offrest thy gift at the altare, & their remembrest that thy brother hath ought against the: ²⁴ leue there thy offringe before the altare, & go thy way first & be reconciled to thy brother, & then come and offre thy gift. ²⁵ Agre with thine aduersary quickly, whiles thou art in the way wt him, lest the aduersary deliuer the to the iudge, & the iudge deliuer the to the minister, & then thou be cast into prison. ²⁶ I say vnto the verely: thou shalt not come out thence tyl thou haue payed the vttermost farthing. ²⁷ Ye haue heard how it was sayed to them of olde time: Thou shalt not commit adultery. ²⁸ But I saye vnto you, that whosoeuer loketh on a wife, lustinge after her, hath committed adulterye with her alredy in his herte ²⁹ Wherfore if thy ryght eye offende the plucke him out, & cast him from the. Better it is for the that one of thy members perishe, then that thy whol body should be cast into hel. ³⁰ Also if thy right hand offende the, cut him of & cast him from the. Better it is that one of thy members perish, then that all thy body should be cast into hel. ³¹ It is sayed, whosoeuer putteth a way his wife, let him geue her a testimonial of the deuorcement. ³² But I sai vnto you: whosoeuer putteth away his wife (except it be for fornicacion) causeth her to breke matrimony. And whosoeuer marieth her that is deuorced, breaketh wedlocke. ³³ Agayne ye haue hearde how it was sayed to them of olde time, thou shalt not forsweare thy self, but shalt performe thine othe to God. ³⁴ But I saye vnto you, swere not at al, neither by heauen, for it is Goddes seate: ³⁵ nor yet by the earth, for it is his fotstole: neither by Ierusalem for it is the citye of the great kinge ³⁶ neither shalt thou sweare by thy head, because thou canst not make one whyte hear, or blacke. ³⁷ But your communicacion shalbe, yea, yea: nay, nay. For whatsoeuer is more than that cometh to euell. ³⁸ Ye haue hearde how it is sayed, an eye for an eye: a tothe for a tothe. ³⁹ But I saye to you that ye resyst not wrong. But who soeuer geue the a blowe on the right cheke, tourne to hym the other. ⁴⁰ And if anye man wyll sue the at the lawe, and take awaye thy coote, let hym haue thy clooke also. ⁴¹ And whosoeuer wyll compell the to goo a myle, goo with hym twaine. ⁴² Geue to hym that axeth, & from him that woulde borow tourne not away. ⁴³ Ye haue hearde how it is said: thou shalt loue thy neighbour, and hate thyne enemy. ⁴⁴ But I say vnto you loue your enemies. Blesse theim that cursse you. Do good to them that hate you. Pray for them which doo you wronge and persecute you, ⁴⁵ that ye may be the chyldren of youre father that is in heauen: for he maketh his sonne to aryse on the yuyll, and on the good and sendeth his raine on the iust and vniust. ⁴⁶ For if ye loue them, whiche loue you: what rewarde shall ye haue? Doo not the publicanes euen so? ⁴⁷ And if ye be frendly to your brethren only what synguler thinge doo ye? Do not the publycanes likewyses? ⁴⁸ Ye shall therfore be perfect, euen as your father which is in heauen, is perfect.

³² Feare not litel flocke, for it is your fathers pleasure, to geue you a kingdom. ³³ Sell that ye haue, and geue almes. And make you bagges whiche were not old, and treasure that faileth not in heauen, where no these cometh, neyther mothe corrupteth. ³⁴ For where youre treasure is there wyll youre hertes be also.

¹⁷ Whosoeuer hath this worldes good, and seeth his brother haue nede, and shutteth vp his compassion from him, howe dwelleth the loue of God in hym?

¹⁶ Then sayde I: wysdome is better then strengthe. Neuertheles, a simple mans wysedome is despised, & his wordes are not herde.

⁶ A poore man leadyng a godly lyfe, is better then the rych that goeth in froward wayes.

²⁰ And he lyfte vp his eye vpon the disciples, and sayde: Blessed be ye pore: for yours is the kyngdome of God. ²¹ Blessed are ye that honger nowe: for ye shalbe satisfyed. Blessed are ye that wepe nowe for ye shall laughe.

² Whether ryches or pouerty do mete vs, it commeth al of God.

¹³ Delyte not thou in slepe, lest thou come vnto pouerte: but open thyne eyes, and thou shalt haue bread ynough.

⁸ Be thou an aduocate, and stande in iudgement thy selfe, to speake for all such as be domme & socourles. ⁹ With thy mouth defende the thyng that is lawful and right, and the cause of the poore and helpelesse.

⁹ Ye knowe the lyberalytie of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, whiche though he were ryche, yet for youre sakes became pore that ye thorowe hys pouertye myght be made ryche.

³⁵ If thy brother be waxed pore and fallen in decay with the, receiue him as a straunger or a soiourner, & let him lyue by th
