²² Blessed are ye when men hate you, and thruste you out of their companye, and rayle, & abhorre youre name as an euill thinge, for the sonne of mans sake.

¹⁷ Recompence to no man euyll for euyll. Prouyde afore hande thynges honest in the syght of all men. ¹⁸ If it be possyble, how be it of your part, haue peace with all men. ¹⁹ Derely beloued auenge not youre selues, but geue roume vnto the wrathe of God. For it is wrytten: vengeaunce is myne, and I wyll rewarde sayeth the Lorde. ²⁰ Therfore yf thyne enemye hunger, feede hym: yf he thurste, geue hym drinke, for in so doyng thou shalt heape coles of fyre on hys head. ²¹ Be not ouercome of euyl: But ouercome euil with goodnesse.

¹⁰ Therfore haue I delectacyon in infyrmities, in rebukes, in nede, in persecutions, in anguyshe, for Christes sake. For when I am weake, then am I stronge.

¹⁴ Notwithstanding happy are ye, yf ye suffre for ryghtuousnes sake. Yea and feare not though they seme terrible vnto you, neither be troubled,

¹⁶ hauinge a good conscience, that when they backbyte you as euyl doers, they maye be ashamed, for as muche as they haue falsely accused your good conuersation in Christ.

¹³ Maruaile not my brethren though the worlde hate you.

¹⁰ Blessed are they which suffer persecucion for rightuousnesse sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen:

¹⁷ It is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for wel doyng, then for euil doinge.

⁴⁴ But I say vnto you loue your enemies. Blesse theim that cursse you. Do good to them that hate you. Pray for them which doo you wronge and persecute you,

¹² Dearely beloued, be not troubled in hys heate, whiche nowe is come amonge you to trye you as though some straunge thing had happened vnto you: ¹³ but reioice in as much as ye are partakers of Christes passions, that when his glory appereth, ye maye be mery and glad. ¹⁴ If ye be railed vpon for the name of Christ, happie are ye. For the spyryte of glorye, and the spyryte of Gad resteth vpon you. On theyr parte he is euyll spoken of, but on your parte he is glorified.

¹⁸ Yf the worlde hate you, ye knowe that it hated me before it hated you.

¹² Yea and all that wyll lyue Godlye in Christe Iesu, must suffer persecucyons.
