⁴⁹ Zain. O thyncke vpon thy seruaunt as concernynge thy worde, wherin thou haste caused me to put my trust. ⁵⁰ For it is my comfort in my trouble, yea thy word quyckeneth me. ⁵¹ The proude haue me greatly in derysyon yet shryncke not I from thy law.

¹⁷ Shew some token vpon me for good, that they which hate me, maye se it, and be ashamed: because thou Lord hast helped me, and comforted me.

¹ O blessed is the man, that goeth not in the counsayll of the vngodly: that abydeth not in the waie of sinners and sitteth not in the seate of the scorneful. ² But deliteth in the lawe of the Lord, and exercyseth hym self in hys lawe, bothe daye and nyght. ³ Suche a man is lyke a tree planted by the watersyde, that bringeth forthe hys frute in due season. His leaues shall not fall af, & loke whatsoeuer he doth, it shall prospere. ⁴ As for the vngodly, it is not so with them but they are lyke the dust, wych the wynde scatered awaye from the grounde. ⁵ Thefore the vngodly shall not be able to stande in the iudgement, nether the synners in the congregacyon of the ryghtuous. ⁶ For the Lorde aloweth the waye of the righteous, but the waye of the vngodly shal peryshe.

²¹ Thou hast brought me to great honoure, and comforted me on euery syde.

⁶ Oh let thy louing kyndnes and mercy folowe me all the dayes of my life, that I may dwell in the house of the Lorde for euer.

¹ So that then thou shalt saye: O Lord I thanke the, for thou wast displeased at me, but thou haste refrained thy wrath, & hast mercy vpon me.

¹ Be of good chere my people, be of good chere (sayeth youre God) ² conforte Ierusalem, and tell her: that her trauayle is at an ende that her offence is pardoned, that she hath receyued of the Lordes hande sufficient correccyon for all her synnes.

¹³ Reioyse ye heauens, and synge prayses thou earthe: Talke of ioye ye hylles, for God wyll comforte hys people, and haue mercye vpon hys, that be in trouble.

¹² Yea I, I am euen he, that in all thynges geueth you consolacion. What arte thou then, that fearest a mortal man, the chylde of man, whiche goeth awaye as doeth the floure?

³² whyche spared not his owne sonne but gaue hym for vs all: how shall he not wyth hym geue vs all thynges also? ³³ Who shall laye anye thynge to the charg of Goddes chosen? It is God that iustifieth ³⁴ who then shall condempne? It is Christe whyche is dead, ye rather which is rysen agayne, which is also on the right hande of God, and maketh intercession for vs. ³⁵ Who shall seperate vs from the loue of God shall tribulation? or anguyshe? or persecution? othere honger? other nakednesse? other peryll? other swearde? ³⁶ As it is wrytten: For thy sake are we killed al day longe, and are counted as shepe appointed to be slayne. ³⁷ Neuerthelesse in all these thynges we ouercome stronglye thorowe hys helpe that loued vs. ³⁸ Yea and I am sure that neyther death, neither life, neyther angels, nor rule, neythere power, neythere thinges presente, neyther thynges to come, ³⁹ neyther heyght, neyther loweth, neyther any other creature? shall be able to depart vs from the lowe of God, shewed in Christ Iesu our Lord.

²² And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.

⁷⁶ O let thy mercyful kyndnesse be my comforte, accordynge to the promes that thou hast made vnto thy seruaunt.

²⁶ Lykewyse the spirite also helpeth our infirmityes. For we knowe not what to desyre as we ought: but the spirite maketh intercession mightelye for vs wyth gronynges whiche can not be expressed with tonge. ²⁷ And he that searcheth the hertes knoweth what is the meanynge of the spirite: for he maketh intercession for the sayntes accordinge to the pleasure of God. ²⁸ For we knowe that all thynges worke for the beste vnto them that loue God, whyche also are called of purpose.

¹ Who so dwelleth vnder the defence of the most hyest, & abydeth vnder the shadowe of the almightye. ² He shal say vnto the Lorde: O my hope, and my strong holde, my God, in whome I will trust. ³ For he shall delyuer the from the snare of the hunter, and from the noysome pestylence. ⁴ He shall couer the vnder hys wynges, that thou mayest be safe vnder his fethers: his faythfulnesse & trueth shalbe thy shylde and buckler. ⁵ So that thou shalt not nede to be afrayed for any bugges by night, nor for the arrowe that flyeth by daye. ⁶ For the pestilence that crepeth in the darkenesse, nor for the sikenesse that destroyeth in the noone daye. ⁷ A thousande shall fall beside the, and ten thousande at thy righthande, but it shall not come nye the. ⁸ Yea, with thyne eyes shalt thou beholde, and se the rewarde of the vngodly. ⁹ For thou Lorde art my hope, thou hast set thyne house of defence very hye. ¹⁰ There shall no euell happen vnto the, neither shall any plage come nye thy dwelling. ¹¹ For he shall gyue his aungels charge ouer the, to kepe the in all thy wayes. ¹² They shall beare the in their handes, that thou hurt not thy fote agaynst a stone. ¹³ Thou shalt go vpon the Lyon and Adder the yonge lyon and the Dragon shalte thou treade vnder thy fete. ¹⁴ Because he hath set his loue vppon me, I shall deliuer hym: I shal defende him, for he hath knowen my name. ¹⁵ When he calleth vpon me, I shall heare hym: yea, I am with hym in hys trouble, wherout I will deliuer him, and bring hym to honoure. ¹⁶ With longe lyfe will I satisfye him, and shewe hym my saluacion.

¹ When he sawe the people, he went vp into a mountaine, and when he was set his disciples came to him, ² and he opened his mouth, and taught them sayinge, ³ blessed are the pore in sprete: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen. ⁴ Blessed are they that morne, for they shalbe comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meke: for they shall inheret the earth. ⁶ Blessed are they which honger & thurste for rightuousnes: for they shalbe filled. ⁷ Blessed are the mercifull: for they shal obtaine mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in hert: for thei shal se God. ⁹ Blessed are the peace makers: for thei shalbe called the children of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are they which suffer persecucion for rightuousnesse sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heauen: ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men reuile you and persecute you, and shal falsely say al maner of yuel sayinges against you for my sake. ¹² Reioyce & be glad, for great is your reward in heauen. For so persecuted they the prophetes which were before your dayes. ¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth: but & if the salt haue lost her saltnes, what can be salted therwith? It is thensforth good for nothinge, but to be cast out, and to be troden vnder fote of men. ¹⁴ Ye are the light of the worlde. A cytye that is set on an hill, can not be hid, ¹⁵ neither do men light a candell & put it vnder a bushell, but on a candelsticke, and it lighteth al that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shyne before men that they maye se your good workes, and gloryfye your father which is in heauen. ¹⁷ Thinke not that I am come to destroy the lawe, or the prophetes: no I am not come to destroy them, but to fulfil them. ¹⁸ For truly I say vnto you, til heauen & earth perish, one iote or one title of the lawe shal not escape, til al be fulfilled ¹⁹ Whosoeuer therfore breaketh one of these lest commaundementes, & teacheth men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdome of heauen. But whosoeuer obserueth & teacheth, the same shal be called great in the kingdom of heauen. ²⁰ For I say vnto you except your rightuousnes excede, the rightuousnes of the scribes & phariseis, ye can not entre into the kingdom of heauen. ²¹ Ye haue heard howe it was said vnto them of the olde time: Thou shalt not kil. For whosoeuer killeth, shal be in daunger of iudgement, ²² but I sai vnto yow, whosoeuer is angre wt his brother without a cause shal be in daunger of iudgement. Whosoeuer saieth to his brother Racha, shalbe in daunger of a counsel. But whosoeuer saieth thou fole, shalbe in daunger of hel fire ²³ Therefore when thou offrest thy gift at the altare, & their remembrest that thy brother hath ought against the: ²⁴ leue there thy offringe before the altare, & go thy way first & be reconciled to thy brother, & then come and offre thy gift. ²⁵ Agre with thine aduersary quickly, whiles thou art in the way wt him, lest the aduersary deliuer the to the iudge, & the iudge deliuer the to the minister, & then thou be cast into prison. ²⁶ I say vnto the verely: thou shalt not come out thence tyl thou haue payed the vttermost farthing. ²⁷ Ye haue heard how it was sayed to them of olde time: Thou shalt not commit adultery. ²⁸ But I saye vnto you, that whosoeuer loketh on a wife, lustinge after her, hath committed adulterye with her alredy in his herte ²⁹ Wherfore if thy ryght eye offende the plucke him out, & cast him from the. Better it is for the that one of thy members perishe, then that thy whol body should be cast into hel. ³⁰ Also if thy right hand offende the, cut him of & cast him from the. Better it is that one of thy members perish, then that all thy body should be cast into hel. ³¹ It is sayed, whosoeuer putteth a way his wife, let him geue her a testimonial of the deuorcement. ³² But I sai vnto you: whosoeuer putteth away his wife (except it be for fornicacion) causeth her to breke matrimony. And whosoeuer marieth her that is deuorced, breaketh wedlocke. ³³ Agayne ye haue hearde how it was sayed to them of olde time, thou shalt not forsweare thy self, but shalt performe thine othe to God. ³⁴ But I saye vnto you, swere not at al, neither by heauen, for it is Goddes seate: ³⁵ nor yet by the earth, for it is his fotstole: neither by Ierusalem for it is the citye of the great kinge ³⁶ neither shalt thou sweare by thy head, because thou canst not make one whyte hear, or blacke. ³⁷ But your communicacion shalbe, yea, yea: nay, nay. For whatsoeuer is more than that cometh to euell. ³⁸ Ye haue hearde how it is sayed, an eye for an eye: a tothe for a tothe. ³⁹ But I saye to you that ye resyst not wrong. But who soeuer geue the a blowe on the right cheke, tourne to hym the other. ⁴⁰ And if anye man wyll sue the at the lawe, and take awaye thy coote, let hym haue thy clooke also. ⁴¹ And whosoeuer wyll compell the to goo a myle, goo with hym twaine. ⁴² Geue to hym that axeth, & from him that woulde borow tourne not away. ⁴³ Ye haue hearde how it is said: thou shalt loue thy neighbour, and hate thyne enemy. ⁴⁴ But I say vnto you loue your enemies. Blesse theim that cursse you. Do good to them that hate you. Pray for them which doo you wronge and persecute you, ⁴⁵ that ye may be the chyldren of youre father that is in heauen: for he maketh his sonne to aryse on the yuyll, and on the good and sendeth his raine on the iust and vniust. ⁴⁶ For if ye loue them, whiche loue you: what rewarde shall ye haue? Doo not the publicanes euen so? ⁴⁷ And if ye be frendly to your brethren only what synguler thinge doo ye? Do not the publycanes likewyses? ⁴⁸ Ye shall therfore be perfect, euen as your father which is in heauen, is perfect.

⁴ Though I should walke now in the valley of the shadow of death, yet I feare not euel for thou arte with me: thy staffe & thy shepehoke comforte me.

²⁸ Come vnto me all ye that labour and are laden and I wyll ease you. ²⁹ Take my yocke on you and learne of me, for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynde reste vnto your soules. ³⁰ For my yocke is easy: and my burden is lyght.

³ Blessed be God the father of oure Lorde Iesus Christ, the father of mercy, and the God of all comforte, ⁴ whiche comforteth vs in all oure tribulacion, in so muche that we are able to comforte them, which are troubled in whatsoeuer tribulation it be, with the same comforte wherwith we our selues are comforted of God.
