²⁴ Iudge not after the vtter aperaunce: but iudge rightuouse iudgemente.

² And when they sawe certayne of hys disciples eate breade with commen handes (that is to say wt vnwashen handes) they complayned. ³ For the Phariseis and all the Iewes, except thei wash their handes ofte, eate not obseruinge the tradicions of the elders. ⁴ And when they come from the market, except they wash they eate not. And many other thinges therbe whyche they haue taken vpon them to obserue, as the wasshyng of the cuppes and cruses, and of brasen vessels, and of tables. ⁵ Then axed hym the Phariseis and Scribes, why walke not thy disciples accordynge to the tradicions of the elders, but eate breade with vnwashen handes? ⁶ He aunswered and sayde vnto them: well prophecied Esayas of you hypocrites, as it is wryten: This people honoureth me with theyr lippes, but their hert is farre from me: ⁷ In vayne they worship me, teachynge doctrines whyche are nothyng but the commaundementes of men. ⁸ For ye laye the commaundement of God apart, and obserue the tradicions of men, as the washyng of cruses and of cuppes, and many other suche lyke thinges ye do. ⁹ And he sayde vnto them: wel, ye caste aside the commaundement of God too maintayne your owne tradicions. ¹⁰ For Moyses sayd: Honour thy father and thy mother: and whosoeuer curseth father or mother, let him dye for it. ¹¹ But ye saye a man shall saye to father or mother Corban: whiche is, that thou desirest me to helpe the with, is geuen God. ¹² And so ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother, ¹³ makynge the worde of God of none effect, thorowe youre owne tradicions, which you haue ordeyned. And many suche thinges ye do. ¹⁴ And he called all the people vnto hym, and sayde to them. Herken to me, euery one of you and vnderstande. ¹⁵ There is nothinge without a man that can defile him when it entereth into him: but those thinges which procede out of hym are those, which defile the man. ¹⁶ If any man haue eares to heare, let hym heare. ¹⁷ And when he came into an house from the people his disciples axed him of the similitude ¹⁸ And he sayde to them: Are ye so without vnderstanding. Do ye not yet perceyue that, whatsoeuer thinge from without entreth into a man it can not defile him, ¹⁹ because it entreth not into his herte, but into his bealy: and goeth out into the draught that pourgeth out all meates. ²⁰ And he sayde that defileth a man, whiche cometh out of a man. ²¹ For from within, euen out of the herte of men, procede euel thoughtes: aduoutry, fornication, murther, ²² theft, coueteousnes, wickednes, deceyte: vncleanenesse and a wicked eye, blasphemy, pryde, folishenes: ²³ all these euell thinges come from within and defile a man.

¹⁷ Therfor to hym that knoweth how to do good, and doeth it not to him it is sinne.

²⁸ Ye shall not rent your fleshe for any soules sake, nor prynte any markes vpon you: I am the Lord:

²⁵ Then wyll I poure cleare water vpon you, & ye shalbe clene: yee from all your vnclennesse and from all your Idols shal I clense you.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, whatsoeuer thynges are true, whatsoeuer thinges are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iuste, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges pertaine to loue, whatsoeuer thinges are of honeste report: yf there be anie vertuous thinge yf there be anye laudable thinge,

¹² Thou shalt haue a place without the host whether thou shalt resorte to ¹³ & thou shalt haue a sharpe poynte at the ende of thy wepon: & when thou wylt ease thy selfe, dygge therwith and turne and couer that which is departed from the. ¹⁴ For the Lorde thy god walketh in thyne host, to ryd the and to set thyne enemyes before the. Let thyne host be pure, that he se no vncleane thyng among you and turne from you.

²⁶ Thou blynd Pharisei, clense first the ynneside of the cup & platter, that the outside of them may be clene also.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in hert: for thei shal se God.

¹ Seynge that we haue such promyses dearely beloued, let vs cleanse oure selues from al fylthynesse of the fleshe & spyrite, and grow vp to full holynesse in the feare of God.

⁷ but and yf we walke (in light) euen as he is in lighte, then haue we felowshyppe wyth hym, and the bloude of Iesus Christe his sonne clenseth vs from all sinne.

⁹ If we knowledge oure sinnes, he is faythfull and iust, to forgeue vs our sinnes, and to clense vs from al vnrightuousnes.

⁷ O purge me with Isope, and I shall be cleane: wash thou me, and I shalbe whyter then snowe.

¹⁰ Make me a cleane hert, O God, & renue a right sprete within me.

¹⁶ Washe you, make you cleane, put awaye youre euill thoughtes out of my sighte, cease from doynge of euyll and vyolence.
