²⁰ In a wyse mans house there is a greate treasure and a plenteousnesse, but a foolish body spendeth vp all.

⁶ Go to the Emmet (thou slogard) consyder her wayes, and lerne to be wise. ⁷ She hath no guide, no teacher, no leader: ⁸ yet in the Sommer she prouideth her meate, and gathereth her foode together in the haruest,

²³ Se that thou know the number of thy catell thy selfe, and loke wel to thy flockes. ²⁴ For riches abyde not alway, & the crowne endureth not for euer. ²⁵ The hey groweth, the grasse commeth vp, & herbes are gathered in the mountaynes. ²⁶ The lambes shall clothe the, and for the gotes ²⁷ thou shalt haue goates mylcke ynough to fede the, to vpholde thy housholde, and to susteyne thy maydens.

⁴ Take not ouer greate trauayle and labour to be ryche, beware of suche a purpose. ⁵ Why wylt thou set thyne eie vpon the thing, which sodenly vanysheth awaye? For ryches make them selues wynges, & take their flight lyke an Aegle into the ayre.

¹⁹ Se that ye gater you not treasure vpon the earth, where ruste & mothes corrupte, & wher theues breake throughe & steale. ²⁰ But gather ye treasure together in heauen, where neither rust nor mothes corrupt, & where theues neyther breake vp nor yet steale. ²¹ For wher soeuer your treasur is, ther wyl your hertes be also.

⁸ The syluer is myne, and the gold is myne, sayth the lord of hostes.

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them, ¹⁸ and that they do good and be ryche in good workes, and readye to geue and to distrybute, ¹⁹ layinge vp in store for them selues a good foundacyon agaynste the tyme to come that they maye obtayne eternal lyfe.

²² Vnaduised thoughts shal come to naught but wher as men are that can geue councel, ther is stedfastnes.

³³ But rather seke ye first the kyngdome of heauen and the rightuousnes therof, & all these thynge shalbe ministred vnto you.

²⁸ Which of you disposed to buylde a tower, sitteth not doune before, & counteth the costes whether he haue sufficient to performe it, ²⁹ leste after he hath layde the foundacion, and is not able to performe it, all that beholde it beginne to mocke hym, ³⁰ saiyng: this man beganne to buylde, and was not able to make an end.

² Furthermore it is requyred of the dysposers, that they be found faithfull.

⁶ Thys yet remember, howe that he whiche soweth lyttell, shal reape lyttell, & he that soweth plentuously, shall reape plentuously.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy substaunce, & with the firstlinges of all thyne encrease:

⁷ The rich ruleth the pore, & the borower is seruant to the lender.
