²⁰ because of your incredulity, said Jesus: for I tell you truly, if ye had ever so little faith, ye might say to this mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and it should remove; and nothing would be too difficult for you.

²³ and blessed is he, who does not make me the occasion of his fall.

¹⁶ for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

¹⁴ Are you not become associates with infidels? but what affinity is there between virtue and vice? and what communication has light with darkness? ¹⁵ what concord can Christ maintain with Belial? what concern has a believer with an infidel? ¹⁶ and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God has said, "I will dwell with, and walk among them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ wherefore come out from among them, be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ¹⁸ I will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

⁶ but let him be fully persuaded of the lawfulness of what he asks: for he that is diffident about that, is like the waves that fluctuate with the wind.

¹⁹ we know that we are the children of God, and the rest of the world are subject to the evil spirit. ²⁰ We know that the son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding to know him that is true: and we are with him that is true, by his son Jesus Christ. "he is the true God, who is the author of eternal life." ²¹ dear children, keep yourselves from idols. AMEN.

³ If any one deviate from this doctrine, not adhering to the wholesome instructions of our Lord Jesus Christ, the true doctrine of piety, ⁴ he is full of pride and ignorance, touch'd with a spirit of chicanery and wrangling, productive of envy, contention, calumny, ⁵ mischievous opinions, and a familiarity with pernicious ignorant impostors, who consider religion only as it makes for their gain.

²¹ Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but only they who do the will of my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁴ thus many are called, but few are converted.

²⁷ then said he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and examine my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. ²⁸ Thomas answered, and said to him, my Lord and my God! ²⁹ Jesus said to him, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed.

⁵ of which they wear the appearance, but disclaim its influence. have no intercourse with such.

²² Make use of your discernment; some reprove:

¹⁵ Love not the world, nor let worldly things engage your affections. he that is worldly affected is a stranger to divine love. ¹⁶ for what the world is so full of, sensuality, avarice, and pride, is not deriv'd from the creator, but is the offspring of a vicious world. ¹⁷ and the world is passing away, with all its vices: but he that obeys the divine will, shall enjoy a life of immortality.

⁸ for by grace are ye saved, thro' faith (and that not from us:

¹⁶ he that believeth, and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that disbelieves, shall be condemned.

⁴⁸ he that rejecteth me, and does not embrace my doctrine, hath one that condemns him: the doctrine that I have delivered, that shall condemn him in the last day.

¹⁸ he that believeth on him, shall not be condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the only begotten son of God. ¹⁹ and this is the subject of their condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

¹¹ wherefore God will suffer a spirit of delusion to work them into the belief of a lye: ¹² to the condemnation of all those, who instead of embracing the gospel, had pleasure in iniquity.

²³ Jesus said to him, provided you can believe, there is nothing but what may be effected for those that believe. ²⁴ immediately the child's father cryed out with tears, I do believe, oh supply the defect of my faith. ²⁵ Jesus observing the people came crowding to him, rebuked the evil spirit, saying, thou dumb and deaf spirit come out of the child, never to enter more, it is I command it.
