Bible verses about "rich" | Mace

Matthew 6:24

24 no man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will be attach'd to the one, and neglectful of the other. ye cannot serve God and Mamon.

Luke 12:33-34

33 sell your possessions and give alms. lay up for yourselves a stock not subject to decay, a treasure in the heavens that will never fail, where no thief can approach, nor moth can spoil. 34 for where your treasure is, there likewise will your affections be.

James 5:1-2

1 As for you that are rich: weep, and lament the miserys that are falling upon you. 2 your wealth is wasted, your wardrobe is devour'd by the worm,

Luke 6:20-21

Ephesians 4:28

28 let him that stole, steal no more: but rather let him labour, to encrease his fortune with his own hands, that he may have wherewithal to relieve the needy:

Mark 10:24-25

24 at this expression the disciples were much surpriz'd. but Jesus reassum'd the discourse, and said, how difficult a thing is it for those, who place their trust in riches, to enter into the divine kingdom? 25 it is easier for a cable to pass thro' the eye of a needle, than for such a rich man to enter into the divine kingdom.

1 Timothy 6:17

Luke 16:19-31

19 There was a rich man, who used to dress in purple and fine linnen, and pass his days in pomp and luxury. 20 a certain beggar named Lazarus, was lying at his gate, and tho' cover'd with ulcers, the very dogs came and fawned upon him. 21 but he wanted to be fed with the crumbs, that fell from the rich man's table. 22 at length the beggar died: and was conveyed by the angels to Abraham's bower. the rich man died too, and was buried. 23 and being in the infernal regions of torments, he lift up his eyes, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bower. 24 and he cry'd out, saying, father Abraham, take pity on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 but Abraham said, son, remember you had your enjoyments, when you were alive, and Lazarus his misfortunes: but now he has his consolation, and you your torments. 26 besides this, there is an unalterable chasm between us and you, so that the passage from one place to the other is impracticable to those who should attempt it. 27 upon which he said, father, I beg it of you, that you would send him to my father's family, where I have five brothers, 28 to give them warning, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 but Abraham replied, they have Moses and the prophets, let them mind them. 30 no, father Abraham, said he, they will not: but if any of the dead went to them, they will certainly repent. 31 Abraham replied, if they disregard Moses and the prophets, they will not believe any one, though he rose from the dead.

Matthew 6:19-21

19 Lay not up for your selves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. 20 but lay up for your selves treasures in heaven, where there is neither moth, nor rust, nor corruption, nor thieves, nor violence to molest you. 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

1 Timothy 6:6-9

6 Religion indeed with contentment leads to great gain. 7 as we brought nothing into the world, certain it is, we can carry nothing away. having therefore food and raiment, 8 we ought to think that sufficient. but they who will be rich, expose 9 themselves to temptations and snares, and to many foolish noxious passions, which plunge men into ruin and perdition. for the love of money is the root of all evil:
