Deuteronomy 22:13-21

13 If a man take a wife, and when he hath lain with her hate her, 14 and lay shameful things unto her charge and bring up an evil name upon her and say, 'I took this wife, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid': 15 Then let the father of the damsel and the mother bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity, unto the elders of the city, even unto the gate. 16 And let the damsel's father say unto the elders, 'I gave my daughter unto this man to wife and he hateth her: 17 and lo, he layeth shameful things unto her charge saying: I found not thy daughter a maid. And yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity.' And let them spread the vesture before the elders of the city. 18 Then let the elders of that city take that man and chastise him, 19 and merce him in a hundred sicles of silver and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a maid in Israel. And she shall be his wife, and he may not put her away all his days. 20 But and if the thing be of a surety that the damsel be not found a virgin, 21 let them bring her unto the door of her father's house, and let the men of that city stone her with stones to death, because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house. And so thou shalt put evil away from thee.

Isaiah 1:1-31

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amos, which he saw upon Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. 2 Hear O heaven, and hearken O earth, for the LORD hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they are fallen away from me. 3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the Ass his master's crib; but Israel knoweth nothing. My people hath no understanding. 4 Alas for this sinful nation, which are expert in blasphemies; a seed of ungracious people, corrupt in their ways. They have forsaken the LORD; they have provoked the holy one of Israel unto anger, and are gone backward. 5 Wherefore should ye be plagued any more? For ye are ever falling away. The whole head is sick, and the heart is very heavy. 6 From the sole of the foot unto the head, there is no whole part in all your body: but all are wounds, botches, sores and stripes, which can neither be helped, bound up, mollified, nor eased with any ointment. 7 Your land lieth waste, your cities are burnt up, your enemies devour your land, and ye must be fain to stand, and look upon it: and it is desolate, as it were with enemies in a battle. 8 Moreover the daughter of Zion is left alone like a cottage in a vineyard, like a watch house in time of war, like a besieged city. 9 And except the LORD of Hosts had left us a few alive, we should have been as Sodom, and like unto Gomorrah. 10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye tyrants of Sodom, and hearken unto the law of our God, thou people of Gomorrah. 11 Why offer ye so many sacrifices unto me, sayeth the LORD? I am full of the burnt offerings of weathers, and with the fatness of fed beasts. I have no pleasure in the blood of bullocks, lambs, and goats. 12 When ye appear before me, who requireth this of you to tread within my porches? 13 Offer me no more oblations, for it is but lost labour. I abhor your incense. I may not away with your new moons, your Sabbaths and solemn days. Your fastings are also in vain. 14 I hate your new holidays and fastings, even from my very heart. I cannot away with such vanity and holding in of the people. They lay upon me as a burden, and I am weary of bearing them! 15 When ye hold out your hands, I will turn my eyes from you. And though ye make many prayers, yet will I hear nothing at all; for your hands are full of blood. 16 Thus saith the LORD God: Wash and be clean; put away the wickedness of your imaginations out of my sight. Cease to do evil and learn to do well. 17 Study to do righteously, and help the oppressed. Avenge the fatherless and defend the cause of widows. Come, let us show each his grief to other and make an atonement, saith the LORD. 18 And so though your sins be like to purple, they shall be made as white as snow; and though they be as red as scarlet, they shall be made like white wool. 19 If ye will agree and hearken, ye shall eat the best of the land, saith the LORD God. 20 But if ye be obstinate and rebellious, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for thus the LORD hath promised with his own mouth. 21 How happeneth it then that the righteous city, which was full of equity, is become unfaithful as an whore? Righteousness dwelt in it, but now murder. 22 Thy silver is turned to dross, and thy wine mixed with water. 23 Thy princes are traitors and companions of thieves. They love gifts altogether, and gape for rewards. As for the fatherless, they help him not to his right, neither will they let the widows causes come before them. 24 Therefore saith the LORD God of Hosts, the mighty one of Israel: Ah, I must ease me of mine enemies, and avenge me upon them. 25 And therefore shall I lay my hand upon thee, and burn out thy dross from the finest and purest, and put out all thy lead, 26 and set thy judges again as they were sometime, and thy Senators as they were from the beginning. Then shalt thou be called the righteous city, the faithful city. 27 But Zion shall be redeemed with equity, and they shall turn again unto her in righteousness. 28 For the transgressors and ungodly, and such as are become unfaithful unto the LORD, must altogether be utterly destroyed. 29 For they shall be ashamed of the gods that you longed for. And you shall be put to shame for the idols and grove gardens that ye have chosen. 30 Ye shall be as an oak whose leaves are fallen away, and as a garden that hath no moistness. 31 And as for the glory of your graven images, it shall be turned to dry straw, and he that made them to a spark. And they shall both burn together, so that no man shall be able to quench them.

Jeremiah 3:1

1 Commonly, when a man putteth away his wife, and she goeth from him, and marrieth with another, then the question is: should he resort unto her any more after that? Is not this field then defiled and unclean? But as for thee, thou hast played the harlot with many lovers, yet turn again to me, sayeth the LORD.

Matthew 19:9

9 I say therefore unto you, whosoever putteth away his wife, except it be for fornication, and marrieth another, breaketh wedlock. And whosoever marrieth her which is divorced, doth commit adultery."

Romans 1:27

27 And likewise also the men left the natural use of the woman, and burnt in their lusts, one on another, among themselves. And man with man wrought filthiness: and received in themselves the reward of their error, as it was according.

Hebrews 13:4

4 Let wedlock be had in price in all points, and let the chamber be undefiled: for whore keepers and adulterers God will judge.

Jude 1:7

7 even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them — which in like manner defiled themselves, with fornication, and followed strange flesh — are set forth for an example, and suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.

Revelation 17:4

4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold, precious stone, and pearls, and had a cup of gold in her hand, full of abominations, and filthiness of her fornication.

Revelation 17:1-18

1 And there came one of the seven angels, which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, "Come, I will show thee the judgment of the great whore, that sitteth upon many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed whoredom, and the inhabiters of the earth are drunken with the wine of her fornication." 3 And he carried me away into the wilderness in the spirit. And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet beast full of names of blasphemy, which had ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold, precious stone, and pearls, and had a cup of gold in her hand, full of abominations, and filthiness of her fornication. 5 And in her forehead was a name written, a mystery: "Great Babylon, the mother of whoredom and abominations of the earth." 6 And I saw the wife drunken with the blood of saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with great marvel. 7 And the angel said unto me, "Wherefore marvellest thou? I will show thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that beareth her, which hath seven heads, and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou seest, was, and is not, and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and shall go into perdition, and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder — whose names are not written in the book of life from he beginning of the world — when they behold the beast that was, and is not. 9 And here is a mind that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth: 10 they are also seven kings. Five are fallen, and one is, and another is not yet come. When he cometh he must continue a space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, is even the eighth, and is one of the seven, and shall go into destruction. 12 And the ten horns which thou seest, are ten kings, which have received no kingdom, but shall receive power as kings at one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall fight with the lamb, and the lamb shall overcome them: For he is Lord of Lords, and King of Kings: and they that are on his side, are called, and chosen, and faithful." 15 And he said unto me, "The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are people, and folk, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns, which thou sawest upon the beast, are they that shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate, and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts, to fulfil his will, and to do with one consent, for to give her kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Deuteronomy 23:17

17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor whorekeeper of the sons of Israel.

1 Corinthians 7:1-40

1 As concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man, not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his wife: and let every woman have her husband. 3 Let the man give unto the wife due benevolence. Likewise also the wife unto the man. 4 The wife hath not power over her own body: but the husband; And likewise the man hath not power over his own body: but the wife. 5 Withdraw not yourselves one from another except it be with consent for a time, for to give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and afterward come again to the same thing, lest Satan tempt you for your incontinency. 6 This I say of favour, not of commandment. 7 For I would that all men were as I myself am: but every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, another after that. 8 I say unto the unmarried men, and widows: it is good for them if they abide even as I do, 9 but and if they cannot abstain, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn. 10 Unto the married command not I, but the Lord: that the wife separate not herself from the man. 11 If she separate herself, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled unto her husband again. And let not the husband put away his wife from him. 12 To the remnant speak I, and not the Lord: if any brother have a wife that believeth not, if she be content to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13 And the woman which hath to her husband an infidel, if he consent to dwell with her, let her not put him away. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife: and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband. Or else were your children unclean: but now are they pure. 15 But and if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not in subjection to such. God hath called us in peace. 16 For how knowest thou o woman, whether thou shalt save that man or no? Other, how knowest thou o man, whether thou shalt save that woman or no? 17 But even as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every person, so let him walk: and so ordain I in all congregations. 18 If any man be called being circumcised, let him add nothing thereto. If any be called uncircumcised: let him not be circumcised. 19 Circumcision is nothing, uncircumcision is nothing: but the keeping of the commandments of God is altogether. 20 Let every man abide in the same state wherein he was called. 21 Art thou called a servant? Care not for it. Nevertheless if thou mayst be free, use it rather. 22 For he that is called in the Lord being a servant, is the Lord's freeman. Likewise he that is called being free, is Christ's servant. 23 Ye are dearly bought; be not men's servants. 24 Brethren, let every man wherein he is called, therein abide with God. 25 As concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet give I counsel as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. 26 I suppose that it is good for the present necessity. For it is good for a man so to be. 27 Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? Seek not a wife. 28 But and if thou take a wife, thou sinnest not. Likewise if a virgin marry, she sinneth not. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in their flesh: but I saver you. 29 This say I, brethren: the time is short. It remaineth that they which have wives, be as though they had none: 30 and they that weep, be as though they wept not: and they that rejoice, be as though they rejoiced not: And they that buy, be as though they possessed not: 31 And they that use this world, be as though they used it not: For the fashion of this world goeth away. 32 I would have you without care; the single man careth for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord: 33 but he that hath married, careth for the things of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is difference between a virgin and a wife. The single woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be pure both in body and also in spirit: but she that is married, careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 This speak I for your profit, not to tangle you in a snare: but for that which is honest and comely unto you; And that ye may quietly cleave unto the Lord without separation. 36 If any man think that it is uncomely for his virgin if she pass the time of marriage, and if so need require, let him do what he listeth, he sinneth not: let them be coupled in marriage. 37 Nevertheless, he that purposeth surely in his heart, having none need: but hath power over his own will: and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doth well. 38 So then he that joineth his virgin in marriage doth well. But he that joineth not his virgin in marriage doth better. 39 The wife is bound to the law as long as her husband liveth. If her husband sleep, she is at liberty to marry with whom she will only in the Lord. 40 But she is happier if she so abide, in my judgement. And I think verily that I have the spirit of God.
