³² "If you love those who love you what credit is it to you? Why even sinners love those who love them. ³³ "And if you are kind to those who are kind to you, what credit is it to you? Even sinners do the same. ³⁴ "And if you lend to those from whom you are hoping to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, so as to get as much back.

¹ Now we who are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to seek our own pleasure. ² Let each one of us try to make his neighbor happy for his good, unto his upbuilding. ³ For even Christ pleased not himself; but as it is written, The reproaches of those who were reproaching thee fell upon me.

⁴ Love suffers long and is kind; love envies not; love makes no parade, is not puffed up, ⁵ is not rude, nor selfish, nor easily provoked. Love bears no malice, never rejoices over wrong-doing, ⁶ but rejoices when the truth rejoices.

³ Do nothing out of strife, nothing out of vanity, but let each one in true humility consider the others to be of more account than himself. ⁴ Let each have an eye not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

²⁴ Let not each one be always seeking his own, but rather his neighbor's good.

¹⁷ But whoever has this world's goods, and beholds his brother in need, and shuts up his heart against him, how can the love of God continue to abide in him?

² For men will be selfish, mercenary, boastful, haughty, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, irreligious, ³ without natural affection, merciless, slanderous, dissolute, and brutal. ⁴ They will hate goodness, they will be treacherous, reckless, blinded with pride, lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God.

⁴ Let each have an eye not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
