Revelation 1:1-20

1 The unveiling apocalypse of Jesus Christ which God gave him to show to his slaves the things which must soon come to pass; and he sent and made it known by his angel to his slave John. 2 He bore witness of the Word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, even of all the things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he who reads, and they who hear the words of the prophecy, and keep what is written in it. For the crisis is at hand. 4 From John to the seven churches that are in Asia the Roman Province. Grace to you, and peace from Him that is and was and is to be, and from the Seven Spirits that are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has loosed us from our sins in his own blood; 6 and has made us to be a kingdom of priests unto his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever, Amen. 7 Behold, he is about to come among the clouds; and every eye will see him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. So shall it be, Amen. 8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. 9 I, John, who am your brother and who share with you in the woes and kingdom and stedfastness of Jesus, found myself in the island called Patmos, for the sake of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard a loud voice behind me, like a trumpet, 11 saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches; to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamos and to Thyatira and Sardis and Philadelphia and Laodicea." 12 And I turned to see the Voice which was speaking to me, and as I turned I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 and in the midst of the candlesticks One like to a son of man, clothed with a robe down to the feet, and with a golden girdle round his breast. 14 His head and his hair were as white as wool, as white as snow; his eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 and his feet like burnished brass, as if molten in a furnace; and his voice like the voice of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars; and out of mouth went a sharp, two-edged sword, and his face was as the sun shining in his strength. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying. "Fear not; I am the first and the last, and the Living One. 18 I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore; and hold the keys of death and of Hades. 19 So write the things which you saw, and the things which are, and the things that will come to pass hereafter. 20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks, is this. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven candlesticks are the seven churches."

2 Peter 1:3-4

3 For his power divine has granted to us everything needful for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue. 4 By these he has granted his promises to us, precious and splendid; so that through them you may become partners of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Corinthians 1:20

20 For however many are the promises of God, in him they are "Yes." Therefore also through him let the Amen be said by our voices to the glory of God.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope, unwavering (for He is faithful who promised);

2 Corinthians 7:1

1 As these promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, and perfect our holiness in the fear of God.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 No temptation has overtaken you that is beyond man's power; but God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will, with every temptation, provide the way of escape also, so that you may be able to withstand.

2 Peter 3:9

9 The Lord does not loiter over his promise, as some men esteem loitering; but he is longsuffering toward you, not purposing that any should perish, but that all should pass on to repentance.
