² "Repent," said he, "for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

⁴² Keep guard then, for you do not know the day on which your Master is coming.

²¹ for then shall be a time of great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never shall be again. ²² And if these days had not been shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but for the elect's sake these days will be cut short.

¹ After the birth of Jesus, which took place at Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod, lo! certain Magi arrived in Jerusalem, saying. ² "Where is the new-born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and are come to worship him." ³ When King Herod heard this he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ So when he had gathered together all the chief priests and rabbis of the people, he began to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born. ⁵ And they told him. "At Bethlehem in Judea, as it is written in the prophet. ⁶ "And thou Bethlehem in the land of Judah, Thou are not least among the princes of Judah, For out of thee shall come a ruler Who shall shepherd my people, Israel."

¹² And the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the day for killing the paschal lamb, his disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make preparation for you to eat the Passover?"

¹³ but he who endures to the end will be saved.

¹³ "Enter by the narrow gate; for broad is the gate and wide the road that leads to destruction, and many are they who go in by it; ¹⁴ "but the gate is narrow and the road is steep, which leads to life, and they are few who find it.

⁴⁴ Therefore you also must be ready, for in an hour when you do not expect him, the Son of man is coming.

¹⁷ At this some of his disciples said among themselves. "What does he mean by telling us, 'In a little while you shall behold me no more; and again in a little while you shall see me,' and 'because I am going to the Father'?"

³⁶ "So be on your guard at all times, praying that you may be worthy to escape these things that shall come to pass, and to take your stand in the presence of the Son of man."

¹² But when they believed Philip, who was preaching glad tidings about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they began to be baptized, both men and women.

¹⁶ "'But rise and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you in order to appoint you my minister and my witness both of what you have already seen and of those things in which I will appear to you. ¹⁷ "'I will deliver you from the Jewish people, and from the Gentiles to whom I am sending you to open their eyes ¹⁸ "'so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, in order to receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

²⁸ Agrippa answered, "In short, you are doing your best to persuade me to become a Christian." ²⁹ "Long or short," answered Paul, "my prayer to God is that not only you but all who are my hearers this day might become such as I am, save for these chains." ³⁰ Then the king rose, and Bernice, and those who were sitting with him. ³¹ When they had withdrawn they continued talking to one another. "This man is doing nothing," they said, "for which he deserves death or imprisonment." ³² And Agrippa said to Festus, "If he had not appealed to Caesar, he might have been set free."

³³ And he took them, the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he was baptized at once, he and all his.

¹⁶ This is my meaning. Let your steps be guided by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil age in accordance with the will of our God and Father,

³⁷ When they heard these words they were stung to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles. "Men and brothers, what shall we do?" ³⁸ "Repent," answered Peter, "and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ "For the promise belongs to you and to your children and to all who are afar off, whomever the Lord may call."

³⁰ "The times of ignorance God overlooked, but he now commands all men that they should all, everywhere, repent; ³¹ inasmuch as he has fixed a day in which he will judge the world justly, by the Man whom he has ordained, and he has given proof of all this by raising him from the dead."

¹⁷ So there is a new creation when any man is in Christ. The old life has passed away, behold, the new is come.

¹⁹ "Repent then! and reform, from the blotting out of your sins, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord;

³² "and you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

¹³ Now the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may be overflowing with hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁸ Draw near to God And he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, And purify your hearts, you double-minded.

"God spoke of this ages ago, through the mouth of his holy prophets.

²² You have learned to lay aside, with your former manner of living, the old self who was on his way to ruin, as he followed the desires which deceive;

¹⁶ He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves shall be condemned.

³⁸ "Repent," answered Peter, "and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
