Bible verses about "temperance" | MLV

Proverbs 23:1-3

1 When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently he who is before you, 2 and put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite. 3 Do not be desirous of his dainties, since they are deceitful food.

Romans 5:3-6

3 But not only in this, but we are also boasting in our afflictions, knowing that affliction is working endurance; 4 and endurance, approved character, and an approved character, hope; 5 and hope does not shame one, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 6 For when we were still weak, according to the proper time, Christ died on behalf of the ungodly.

1 Corinthians 9:25

25 But everyone who struggles in the race exercises self-control in all things. Therefore indeed, those men do it in order that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we receive an incorruptible crown. \ulnone\nosupersub

Galatians 5:16

16 But I am saying, walk by the Spirit and you may never complete the lust of the flesh.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and the Spirit of God is dwelling in you? 17 If anyone corrupts the temple of God, God will have corruption for this one; for the temple of God is holy, which you are.

Philippians 4:13

13 I am strong in all things in the Christ, who is empowering me.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not be inheriting the kingdom of God? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor pedophiles, nor homosexuals, 10 nor the greedy ones, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will be inheriting the kingdom of God. 11 And some of you were these, but you were fully-washed, but you were made holy, but you were made righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

1 John 4:1-21

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 You know the Spirit of God in this. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh, is not from God and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard, that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, my little-children and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; because of this they speak as from the world and the world hears them. 6 We are from God. He who knows God, hears us; he who is not from God does not hear us. We know from this, the spirit of the truth and the spirit of the deceit.
7 Beloved, we should love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. 8 He who does not love, does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this, the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent his only begotten Son into the world in order that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atonement on behalf of our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at anytime; if we love one another, God is abiding in us and his love is completed in us. 13 We know in this that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given to us from his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and are testifying that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God. 16 And we have known and have believed the love which God has in us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God abides in him. 17 In this, love has been completed with us, in order that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because just-as that man is complete, we are also complete in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but mature love casts out the fear, because the fear has punishment, and he who fears has not been matured in love. 19 We love him, because he loved us first. 20 If anyone say, I love God and then should hate his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, how is he able to love God, whom he has not seen? 21 And we have this commandment from him, in order that he who loves God should also love his brother.

Romans 12:1-2

1 Therefore brethren, I am encouraging you through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your logical divine service. 2 And not to fashion yourselves to this age, but be transfigured by the renewal of your mind, that you may be proving in you what is the will of God: the good and acceptable and mature.

Romans 13:14

14 But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not practice forethought for the lusts of the flesh.

Proverbs 25:16

16 Have you found honey? Eat as much as is sufficient for you, lest you are filled with it and vomit it.

Galatians 5:22-25

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness and self-control. There is no law against such. 24 But those who are of the Christ have crucified the flesh together with its passions and lusts.
25 If we are living in the Spirit, we should also march in the Spirit.

2 Peter 1:6

6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, endurance, and in your endurance, godliness;

1 Corinthians 9:27
