¹⁹ He also is chastened with pain upon his bed and with continual strife in his bones,

³⁰ Stripes that wound cleanse away evil and strokes the innermost parts.

³ But not only in this, but we are also boasting in our afflictions, knowing that affliction is working endurance; ⁴ and endurance, approved character, and an approved character, hope; ⁵ and hope does not shame one, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

⁶ And he said to me, I have become the Alpha and the Omega, I am the beginning and the end. I will be giving freely to the one who is thirsty out of the spring of the water of life. ⁷ He who overcomes will be inheriting these things, and I will be his God and he will be a son to me.

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, happening to you for a test, as though a strange thing is befalling to you.

²² But his flesh upon him has pain and his soul within him mourns.

¹ To you, O Jehovah, I lift up my soul.
² O my God, in you I have trusted. Do not let me be put to shame. Do not let my enemies triumph over me. ³ Yes, none who wait for you will be put to shame. They will be put to shame who deal treacherously without cause.
⁴ Show me your ways, O Jehovah. Teach me your paths. ⁵ Guide me in your truth and teach me. Because you are the God of my salvation. I wait all the day on you.
⁶ Remember, O Jehovah, your tender mercies and your loving kindness. Because they are from everlasting.
⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. According to your loving kindness you remember me, for your goodness' sake, O Jehovah. ⁸ Good and upright is Jehovah. Therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek he will guide in justice and the meek he will teach his way. ¹⁰ All the paths of Jehovah are loving kindness and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
¹¹ For your name's sake, O Jehovah, pardon my iniquity, because it is great.
¹² What man is he who fears Jehovah? Him he will instruct in the way that he will choose. ¹³ His soul will dwell at ease and his seed will inherit the land.
¹⁴ The friendship of Jehovah is with those who fear him and he will show them his covenant. ¹⁵ My eyes are ever toward Jehovah, because he will pluck my feet out of the net.
¹⁶ Turn to me and have mercy upon me, because I am desolate and afflicted. ¹⁷ The troubles of my heart are enlarged. O bring me out of my distresses. ¹⁸ Consider my affliction and my travail and forgive all my sins.
¹⁹ Consider my enemies, because they are many. And they hate me with cruel hatred.
²⁰ O keep my soul and deliver me. Do not let me be put to shame, because I take refuge in you. ²¹ Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for you.
²² Redeem Israel, O God, out of all of his troubles.

¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, as waters that fail?

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you*, says Jehovah, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you* hope in your* latter end.

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? And you are not your own; ²⁰ for you were bought with a price. Glorify God in your body and in your spirit which is God’s!

¹³ I am strong in all things in the Christ, who is empowering me.

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, happening to you for a test, as though a strange thing is befalling to you. ¹³ But accordingly you are sharing in the sufferings of the Christ with us, rejoice, in order that you may also rejoice in the revelation of his glory, being glad.

¹⁹ So-then those who are also suffering according to the will of God in good-doing, let them consign themselves, their souls, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁷ In the night season my bones are pierced in me and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.

³ Jehovah will support him upon the bed of languishing. You will make all his bed in his sickness.

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, happening to you for a test, as though a strange thing is befalling to you. ¹³ But accordingly you are sharing in the sufferings of the Christ with us, rejoice, in order that you may also rejoice in the revelation of his glory, being glad. ¹⁴ If you are reproached in the name of Christ, you are fortunate, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. He is indeed blasphemed according to their manner, but he is glorified according to your manner. ¹⁵ For let not anyone of you suffer like a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or like a meddler in the affairs of others. ¹⁶ But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this respect. ¹⁷ Because the time for judgment is to begin from the house of God, and if it begins first from us, what will be the end of those who are disobedient to the good-news of God? ¹⁸ And if the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear? ¹⁹ So-then those who are also suffering according to the will of God in good-doing, let them consign themselves, their souls, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁸ For I reason that the sufferings of this current time are not worthy of complaint to the glory which is about to be revealed to us.

⁴ And he will be wiping-away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no death anymore. There will be no mourning, no crying, no pain anymore because the first things have passed away.
