¹⁸ You will not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you will love your neighbor as yourself. I am Jehovah.

²³ for all have sinned and come-short of the glory of God.

⁸ If we should say that we have no sin, we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us.

¹⁴ if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth and his ways justice. And he is able to humble those who walk in pride.

¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray; the first one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and was praying these things with himself, God, I give-thanks to you, that I am not like the rest of men: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers or just-like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe of all things, as many things as I procure. ¹³ And the tax collector, standing from afar, was not even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be lenient to me, the sinner. ¹⁴ I say to you, This one went down to his house, having been made righteous rather than that man, because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, but he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

¹⁰ Be tenderly loving to one another in the love of the brethren; being the leader for one another in honor;

¹⁸ Pride is before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
¹⁹ Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

⁸ Whenever you are invited by anyone to a marriage-feast, do not recline in the foremost seat; lest a more admired man than you may have been invited by him, ⁹ and he who invited you and him, having come to you will say, Give this one your place, and then you may begin with shame to hold the last place. ¹⁰ But whenever you are invited, travel there and lean-back in the last place; in order that whenever he who has invited you comes, he may say to you, Friend, go higher toward me, and then you will have glory in the sight of those who recline at the table together with you. ¹¹ Because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will be exalting you.

⁸ For you are saved by the grace through the faith, and this thing, the gift of God, is not from you; ⁹ not from works, in order that not anyone should boast.

⁹ The meek he will guide in justice and the meek he will teach his way.

⁶ But he is giving greater grace. Hence the Scripture says, ‘God resists the haughty, but gives grace to the humble.’
