¹ A Psalm of David. Jehovah, who shall dwell in Your tabernacle? Who shall dwell on Your holy hill? ² He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart; ³ he does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; ⁴ in whose eyes the reprobate is despised, but he honors those who fear Jehovah; he has sworn to his hurt, and does not change it; ⁵ he has not put out his money at interest, nor has he taken a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall not be moved forever.

¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; ² to know wisdom and instruction; to recognize the words of understanding; ³ to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and uprightness; ⁴ to give sense to the simple, knowledge and judgment to the young man; ⁵ the wise hears and increases learning; and understanding ones get wisdom; ⁶ to understand a proverb and its meaning; the words of the wise, and their acute sayings. ⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother; ⁹ for they shall be an ornament of grace to your head and chains around your neck. ¹⁰ My son, if sinners lure you, do not be willing. ¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, we will watch secretly for the innocent without cause; ¹² let us swallow them up alive as the grave, and whole, as those who go down into the pit; ¹³ we shall find all precious goods; we shall fill our houses with plunder; ¹⁴ cast in your lot among us, and let us have one purse. ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them! Keep back your foot from their path, ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood. ¹⁷ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird, ¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they watch secretly for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gains unjust gain; it takes away its owners' life. ²⁰ Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets; ²¹ she cries in the chief place of gathering, in the openings of the gates; in the city she utters her words, saying, ²² How long will you love simplicity, simple ones? And will scorners delight in their scorning? And will fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. ²⁴ Because I called, and you refused; I stretched out my hand, and no one paid attention; ²⁵ but you have despised all my advice, and would have none of my warning. ²⁶ I also will laugh at your trouble; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ when your fear comes as a wasting away, and your ruin comes like a tempest when trouble and pain come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me; ²⁹ instead they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of Jehovah. ³⁰ They would have none of my counsel; they despised all my correction, ³¹ and they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own desires. ³² For the turning away of the simple kills them, and the ease of fools destroys them. ³³ But whoever listens to me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,

¹⁸ knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;

⁴¹ And sitting down opposite the treasury, Jesus watched how the people threw copper coins into the treasury. And many rich ones threw in much. ⁴² And a certain poor widow came, and she threw in two lepta, which is a kodrantes. ⁴³ And He called His disciples and said to them, Truly I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all those who have cast into the treasury. ⁴⁴ For all cast in from their abundance. But she, out of her poverty, has cast in all that she had, all her livelihood.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

¹⁴ I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are marvelous and my soul knows it very well.

³⁵ I have shown you all things, that working in this way we ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

⁸ For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the present life, and of that which is to come.

³¹ Therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.
