²³ Take also to you principal spices, five hundred shekels of pure myrrh, and half as much of sweet cinnamon, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet calamus, ²⁴ and five hundred of cassia, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil. ²⁵ And you shall make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil.

²⁰ And you shall command the sons of Israel that they bring you pure olive oil beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always

¹³ He made him ride on the high places of the earth, so that he might eat the increase of the fields. And He made him suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock,

¹ And Samuel took a vial of oil and poured on his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because Jehovah has anointed you for a leader over His inheritance?

¹ And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead. And you know that your servant feared Jehovah. And the lender has come to take my two children to himself for slaves. ² And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house? And she said, Your handmaid has not a thing in the house except a pot of oil. ³ And he said, Go, borrow vessels for yourself from outside, from your neighbors, empty vessels. Do not let them be few. ⁴ And you shall go in and shut the door on you and your sons. And you shall pour out into all those vessels. And you shall set aside the full ones. ⁵ And she went from him and shut the door on her and on her sons. They brought to her, and she poured out. ⁶ And it happened when the vessels were full, she said to her son, Bring me another vessel. And he said to her, There is not a vessel left. And the oil stopped. ⁷ And she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons shall live from the rest.

¹² And she said, As Jehovah your God lives, I do not have a cake, but only a handful of meal in a pitcher and a little oil in a jar. And behold, I am gathering two sticks, so that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die. ¹³ And Elijah said to her, Do not fear, go. Do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it, and bring it to me. And then make for you and for your son. ¹⁴ For so says Jehovah, the God of Israel, The pitcher of meal shall not be emptied, nor shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Jehovah sends rain on the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah. And she and he and her house ate many days; ¹⁶ the pitcher of meal was not consumed, and the jar of oil did not fail, according to the Word of Jehovah which He spoke by Elijah.

⁵ You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

⁷ You love righteousness, and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your fellows.

¹⁷ He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.

¹⁵ saying, Touch not my anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

⁴⁶ You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with ointment.

³ The foolish ones took their lamps, but took no oil with them.

¹⁴ Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will cure the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him.

²⁰ A desirable treasure and oil are in the home of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.
