¹² For it is not an enemy who reviled me; then I could have borne it; it is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me; or I would hide myself from him; ¹³ but it is you, a man my rank, my guide and my friend. ¹⁴ We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in company. ¹⁵ Let desolation take hold on them, and let them go down alive into hell; for evils are among them in their dwellings.

⁵ Open rebuke is better than secret love. ⁶ Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

⁷ Woe to the world because of offenses! For it is necessary that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

¹ Therefore be followers of God, as dear children. ² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. ³ For let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness not be once named among you, as becomes saints, ⁴ neither baseness, foolish talking, jesting, which are not becoming, but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For you know this, that no fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous one (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore do not be partakers with them. ⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light ⁹ (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth), ¹⁰ proving what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. ¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, sleeping ones! And arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light." ¹⁵ See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine, in which is excess, but be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹ submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God. ²² Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. ²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, ²⁶ that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, ²⁷ that He might present it to Himself as the glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any such things, but that it should be holy and without blemish. ²⁸ So men ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord loves the church. ³⁰ For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. ³¹ "For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two of them shall be one flesh." ³² This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. ³³ But also let everyone of you in particular so love his wife even as himself, and the wife that she defers to her husband.

¹⁶ And in this I exercise myself, always to have a blameless conscience toward God and men.

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

¹ Judge not, that you may not be judged. ² For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again. ³ And why do you look on the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the splinter out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? ⁵ Hypocrite! First cast the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast the splinter out of your brother's eye.

¹ Brothers, if a man is overtaken in a fault, you the spiritual ones restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering yourself, lest you also be tempted. ² Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the Law of Christ. ³ For if anyone thinks himself to be something, being nothing, he deceives himself.

²³ who when He was reviled did not revile in return. When He suffered, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who judges righteously.

¹⁸ You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am Jehovah.

¹⁶ These six Jehovah hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul: ¹⁷ a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that plots wicked plans, feet hurrying to run to evil, ¹⁹ a false witness who speaks lies, and he who causes fighting among brothers.

² with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, ³ endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I have become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have prophecies, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so as to move mountains, and do not have charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I give out all my goods to feed the poor, and though I deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, I am profited nothing. ⁴ Charity has patience, is kind; charity is not envious, is not vain, is not puffed up; ⁵ does not behave indecently, does not seek her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil. ⁶ Charity does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth, ⁷ quietly covers all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Charity never fails. But if there are prophecies, they will be abolished; if tongues, they shall cease; if knowledge, it will be abolished. ⁹ For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. ¹⁰ But when the perfect thing comes, then that which is in part will be caused to cease. ¹¹ When I was an infant, I spoke as an infant, I thought as an infant, I reasoned as an infant. But when I became a man, I did away with the things of an infant. ¹² For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known. ¹³ And now faith, hope, charity, these three remain; but the greatest of these is charity.

¹⁶ For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every foul deed.

¹⁵ But if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear you, take one or two more with you, so that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he neglects to hear the church, let him be to you as a heathen and a tax-collector.

³ Take heed to yourselves. If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him. And if he repents, forgive him. ⁴ And if he trespasses against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turns again to you, saying, I repent, you shall forgive him.

¹⁹ A brother offended is like a strong city; and their disagreements are like the bars of a fortress.

²¹ Also do not listen to all words that are spoken; lest you hear your servant curse you. ²² For also your own heart knows that you yourself have also cursed others many times.

¹¹ The judgment of a man puts off his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
