⁷ But Jehovah said to Samuel, Do not look on his face, nor on his height, because I have refused him. For He does not see as man sees. For man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart.

¹⁸ Jehovah is near to the broken-hearted; and saves those who are of a contrite spirit.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Jehovah ponders the hearts.

¹⁹ And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will remove the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh,

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, double-minded ones.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? ¹⁰ I Jehovah search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

¹² For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

²⁶ And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
