¹ Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons.

³ But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. ⁴ Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered dishonors his Head. ⁵ But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head; for that is even the same as if she were shaved. ⁶ For if the woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn. But if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled. ⁷ For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. ⁹ Nor was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man. ¹⁰ For this reason the woman ought to have authority on her head because of the angels. ¹¹ But neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord. ¹² For as the woman is of the man, even so the man is also through the woman; but all things of God. ¹³ Judge among yourselves: is it right that a woman pray to God unveiled? ¹⁴ Does not even nature itself teach you that if man has long hair, it is a shame to him? ¹⁵ But if a woman should have long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her in place of a veil. ¹⁶ But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor the churches of God.

³ And I also beg you, true yoke-fellow, help those women who labored in the gospel with me and with Clement, and others of my fellow-laborers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

² Then it behooves the overseer to be without reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching,

³ Let the aged women likewise be in reverent behavior, not slanderers, not enslaved by much wine, teachers of good; ⁴ that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be blasphemed.

¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. ¹² But I do not allow a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence.

⁸ Likewise the deacons are to be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of ill gain, ⁹ having the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. ¹⁰ And let these also first be tested, then let them minister without reproach. ¹¹ Even so their wives are to be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. ¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and households well. ¹³ For they having served well gain a good grade for themselves, and much boldness in the faith, those in Christ Jesus.

⁹ In the same way also, I desire that women adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and sensibleness, not adorned with braiding, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing,

² that you receive her in the Lord, as becomes saints, and that you may assist her in whatever business she has need of you. For she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.

²⁶ And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. And Aquila and Priscilla heard him, and they took him and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly.

³ Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus,

¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and households well.

⁸ Likewise the deacons are to be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of ill gain,

¹² But I do not allow a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence.

¹⁰ well reported of for good works: if she brought up children, if she lodged strangers, if she washed the feet of saints, if she relieved the afflicted, if she followed after every good work.

¹ I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, ² that you receive her in the Lord, as becomes saints, and that you may assist her in whatever business she has need of you. For she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.

¹¹ Even so their wives are to be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.
