⁴⁵ And David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of Jehovah of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

³⁰ and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." This is the first commandment.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

¹ And, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea. ² And all were baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea, ³ and all ate the same spiritual food, ⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. ⁵ But with many of them God was not well pleased, for they were scattered in the wilderness. ⁶ And these things were our examples, that we should not be lusters after evil, as they also lusted. ⁷ Nor should we be idolaters, even as some of them, as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." ⁸ Nor let us commit fornication, as some of them fornicated, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. ⁹ Nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted Him and were destroyed by serpents. ¹⁰ Nor murmur as some of them also murmured and were destroyed by the destroyer. ¹¹ And all these things happened to them as examples; and it is written for our warning on whom the ends of the world have come. ¹² So let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. ¹³ No temptation has taken you but what is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but with the temptation also will make a way to escape, so that you may be able to bear it. ¹⁴ Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. ¹⁵ I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say. ¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we, the many, are one bread and one body; for we are all partakers of that one bread. ¹⁸ Behold Israel after the flesh. Are not those who eat of the sacrifices also partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What then do I say? That the idol is anything, or that an idolatrous sacrifice is anything? ²⁰ But I say that the things which the nations sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. And I do not desire that you should have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and of a table of demons. ²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He? ²³ All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit. All things are lawful to me, but not all things build up. ²⁴ Let no one seek his own, but each one another's. ²⁵ Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no question for conscience' sake; ²⁶ "for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of it." ²⁷ If any of those who do not believe invite you to a feast, and if you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for conscience' sake. ²⁸ But if anyone says to you, This is slain in sacrifice to idols, do not eat for the sake of him who showed it, and for conscience' sake; "for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of it"; ²⁹ conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's. For why is my liberty judged by another's conscience? ³⁰ For if I by grace am a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? ³¹ Therefore whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. ³² Give no offense, either to the Jews, or to the Greeks or to the church of God; ³³ even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, so that they may be saved.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for possession, so that you might speak of the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

¹⁷ You shall not fight in this battle. Set yourselves and stand, and see the salvation of Jehovah with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for Jehovah will be with you.

¹ A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my Shepherd; I shall not want. ² He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. ³ He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. ⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. ⁵ You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. ⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.

¹⁸ There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love.

¹⁰ But the God of all grace, He calling us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but what is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but with the temptation also will make a way to escape, so that you may be able to bear it.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

⁵ Let your way of life be without the love of money, and be content with such things as you have, for He has said, "Not at all will I leave you, not at all will I forsake you, never!"

⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

⁸ in every way having been troubled, but not having been hemmed in; having been perplexed, but not utterly at a loss; ⁹ having been persecuted, but not having been forsaken; having been thrown down, but not having been destroyed;

² My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into different kinds of temptations, ³ knowing that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing.
