¹⁶ Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

⁷ Remain in that house, eating and drinking of what they have; for a laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house.

¹⁸ But now God has set every member in the body, as it has pleased him.

¹¹ And that you endeavor to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; ¹² That you may lead a life of good example toward outsiders, so that you depend on no man.

¹ MY brethren, do not allow doubtful teachers among you; but know, that we are under a great judgment.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and like the other; or he will honor one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).

¹ MASTERS, do to your servants that which is just and fair; knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

⁵ For if a man does not know how to rule well his own household, how shall he take care of the church of God?

¹⁸ For the scripture says: Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that thresheth. And again, The laborer is worthy of his hire.

²² Servants, obey your human masters in all things, not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but with a sincere heart, in fear of the LORD.

¹⁸ And the servants among you, let them be submissive to their masters with due respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are severe and difficult.

¹⁴ It is just like a man who went on a journey, who called his servants and put his wealth in their charge. ¹⁵ To one he gave five talents, to one two, to another one; to each one according to his ability; and immediately he went on a journey. ¹⁶ The one who received five talents then went and traded with them, and he earned five others. ¹⁷ Likewise the second one, he gained by trading gained two others. ¹⁸ But he who received one, went and dug in the ground, and hid his lordÆs money. ¹⁹ After a long time, the lord of those servants returned, and took an accounting from them. ²⁰ Then the one who received five talents came up, and offered five others, and he said, My lord, you gave me five talents; behold, I have gained five others to them. ²¹ His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your masterÆs joy. ²² Then the one with the two talents came and he said, My lord, you gave me two talents, behold I have gained two others to them. ²³ His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant, you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your masterÆs joy. ²⁴ Then the one who received one talent also came up, and he said, My lord, I knew that you are a hard man, and you reap where you did not sow, and gather where you did not scatter. ²⁵ So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground; here it is, it is your own one. ²⁶ His lord answered and said to him, O wicked and lazy servant, you knew me that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather where I did not scatter. ²⁷ You should then have put my money in the exchange, and when I returned I would have demanded my own with interest. ²⁸ Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has ten talents.

³³ But you seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all of these things shall be added to you.

²³ And whatever you do, do it with your whole soul, as to our LORD and not unto men;
