¹⁴ For many are invited, and few are chosen.

²⁰ And if the Lord had not shortened those days, no flesh would live; but for the sake of the chosen ones, which he chose, he shortened those days. ²¹ Then if any man should say to you, Behold, here is the Christ; or, behold, there; do not believe it. ²² For there will rise false Christs, and lying prophets, and they will show signs and wonders, and mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. ²³ But you be careful; behold, I have told you everything in advance. ²⁴ But in those days, after that suffering, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, ²⁵ And the stars will fall down from the sky, and the powers of the universe will be shaken. ²⁶ Then they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds, with a great army and with glory.

⁷⁰ Jesus said to them, Did not I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is Satan? *

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified God; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who had chosen me from my birth, and called me by his grace,

¹² Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on mercy, kindness, gentleness, humbleness of mind, meekness, patience;

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me.

⁸ And all who dwell upon the earth shall worship him, even those whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

⁴ Just as from the beginning he has chosen us through him, before the foundation of the world, that we may become holy and without blemish before him.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ²⁹ He knew them in advance and he marked them with the likeness of the image of his Son that he might be the first-born among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, those he did mark in advance, he has called, and those he has called, he has declared righteous, and those he has declared righteous, he has glorified.

⁹ But you are a chosen people; ministers to the kingdom, a holy people, a congregation redeemed to proclaim the glories of him who has called you out of darkness to his marvelous light:

⁴ Just as from the beginning he has chosen us through him, before the foundation of the world, that we may become holy and without blemish before him. ⁵ And he marked us with his love to be his from the beginning, and adopted us to be sons through Jesus Christ, as it pleased his will.

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you, and I have appointed you, that you also should go and produce fruit, and that your fruit might remain; so that whatever you ask my Father in my name, he will give it to you.
