⁹ When you come to the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you, you shall not learn to do according to the hateful acts of those nations.

² When there is found among you, in one of your gates which Jehovah your God is giving to you, a man or woman who does that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, in transgressing His covenant, ³ and has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them; or the sun, or the moon, or of the host of the heavens, which I have not commanded; ⁴ and it has been revealed to you, and you have heard, and searching have searched; and, behold, it is true; and the thing is confirmed, that this hateful thing has been done in Israel, ⁵ Then you shall bring out to your gates that man or that woman who has done this evil thing, the man or the woman; and you shall stone them with stones, and they shall die.

²³ For the sin of divination is rebellion; insolence is both iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, so He has rejected you from being king.

¹³ And Saul died because of his trespass that he trespassed against Jehovah, against the word of Jehovah that he did not keep, and also for asking of a medium, to inquire;

¹ In that day Jehovah shall visit the sea monster, the darting serpent, with His great and fierce and strong sword; even on the sea monster, the twisting serpent; and He shall slay the monster that is in the sea.

³ So says the Lord Jehovah, Woe to the foolish prophets who walk after their own spirit and have seen nothing!

For she gathered it from the reward of a harlot, and they shall return to the reward of a harlot. ⁸ Because of this I will wail and howl; I will go stripped and naked; I will make a wailing like the jackal, yea, mourn like the daughters of an ostrich. ⁹ For her wounds are incurable; for it has come to Judah; it has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem. ¹⁰ Do not declare it in Gath; do not sorely weep. In the house of Leaphrah wallow in dust. ¹¹ Pass over to them, O dweller of Shaphir, in nakedness of shame. The dweller of Zaanan has not gone out; the mourning of Bethezel shall take from you its place of standing. ¹² For be grieved for good, the inhabitant of Maroth, for evil came down from Jehovah to the gate of Jerusalem. ¹³ Inhabitant of Lachish, tie the chariot to the stallion; she is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for the transgressions of Israel were found in you. ¹⁴ So you shall give parting gifts to Moresheth-gath. The houses of Achzib are for a lying thing to the kings of Israel. ¹⁵ I will bring an heir to you again, O dweller of Mareshah. The glory of Israel shall come to Adullam. ¹⁶ Make yourself bald, and cut off your hair for the sons of your delight. Make your baldness increase like the eagle, for they go into exile from you.

⁹ But a certain man named Simon had long been conjuring in the city and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one. ¹⁰ All were paying attention to him, from small to great, saying, This one is the power of God, which is great. ¹¹ And they were paying attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his conjuring. ¹² But when they believed Philip preaching the gospel, the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. ¹³ And Simon himself also believed, and being baptized was continuing steadfastly with Philip. And seeing miracles and mighty works happening, he was amazed.

¹⁴ Did not Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light?

⁸ But for the cowardly and unbelieving, and those having become foul, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the lying ones, their part will be in the Lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

²² Keep back from every appearance of evil.

For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted by his own lusts, having been drawn out and having been seduced by them . ¹⁵ Then being conceived, lust brings forth sin. And sin being fully formed brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not go astray, my beloved brothers, ¹⁷ every act of good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Having purposed, He brought us forth by the word of truth, for us to be a certain firstfruit of His creatures. ¹⁹ So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. ²⁰ For the wrath of man does not work out the righteousness of God. ²¹ On account of this, having put aside all filthiness and overflowing of evil, in meekness receive the implanted Word being able to save your souls. ²² But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. ²³ Because if anyone is a hearer of the Word, and not a doer, this one is like a man studying his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he studied himself, and has gone away, and immediately he forgot of what kind he was. ²⁵ But the one looking into the perfect law of liberty, and continuing in it, this one not having become a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in his doing. ²⁶ If anyone thinks to be religious among you, yet not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this one's religion is vain. ²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

²¹ And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornications, nor of their thefts.

⁹ When you come to the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you, you shall not learn to do according to the hateful acts of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found in you one who passes his son or his daughter through the fire, one that uses divination, an observer of clouds, or a fortuneteller, or a whisperer of spells, ¹¹ or a magic charmer, or one asking of familiar spirits, or a wizard, or one inquiring of the dead. ¹² For all doing these things are an abomination to Jehovah. And because of these filthy acts Jehovah your God is expelling these nations before you. ¹³ You shall be perfect with Jehovah your God. ¹⁴ For these nations whom you shall expel listen to observers of clouds, and to diviners. But as to you, Jehovah your God has not allowed you to do so.

¹³ You are exhausted by your many plans; let those dividing the heavens stand up now and save you, the stargazers, making known what is coming on you into the new moons. ¹⁴ Behold, they are as stubble; the fire burns them; they shall not save their soul from the flame's hand; there is no coal to warm them; nor fire, to sit before it. ¹⁵ So they are to you with whom you have labored, your traders from your youth; each one wanders to his own way; no one saves you.

²⁷ Daniel replied before the king and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king by the wise men, the conjurers, the horoscopists, or the fortunetellers. ²⁸ But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets, and makes known to king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these:

¹⁶ And it happened, as we went into a place of prayer, a certain girl slave having a Pythonic spirit met us, whose divining brought much gain to her lords.

³¹ You shall not turn to those having familiar spirits; and you shall not seek to spiritists to be defiled by them; I am Jehovah your God.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
