¹ Now faith is the substantiation of things having been hoped, the evidence of things not having been seen.

¹ Come and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us. He has stricken, and He will bind us up. ² After two days He will bring us to life. In the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live before Him. ³ Then we shall know, we who follow on to know Jehovah. His going forth is established as the dawn. And He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth. ⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is like a morning cloud, and it goes away like the early dew. ⁵ So I have hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and your judgments have been as the light that goes forth. ⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. ⁷ But, like Adam, they have broken the covenant; they have acted like traitors against Me there. ⁸ Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity, slippery with blood marks. ⁹ And as troops of robbers wait for a man, the company of priests murder in the way to Shechem; for they have done wickedness. ¹⁰ I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: the fornication of Ephraim is there; Israel is defiled. ¹¹ Also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed to you, when I return the captivity of My people.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God, and you are not of yourselves? ²⁰ You were bought with a price; then glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are of God.

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort you as temporary residents and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul;

⁹ But you are "an elect race," "a royal priesthood," "a holy nation," "a people for possession," so that "you may openly speak of the virtues" of the One who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; LXX-Ex. 23:22; MT-Ex. 19:5, 6

³⁶ Who has put wisdom in the inward parts; or who has given understanding to the mind?

¹ A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the evildoers, my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³ If an army should camp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war rises against me, in this I am trusting. ⁴ One thing I have asked from Jehovah, it I will seek: my dwelling in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, to behold the delight of Jehovah, and to inquire in His temple.

²⁰ for the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse.

⁸ For the rest, brothers, whatever is true, whatever honorable, whatever is right, whatever pure, whatever lovely, whatever of good report, if of any virtue, and if of any praise, think on these things.

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerfully working, and sharper than every two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of both soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge of the thoughts and intentions of the heart;

¹⁴ But a natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
