Bible verses about "offense" | LITV

Psalms 55:12-15

12 For it is not an enemy reproaching me, or I could bear it; it is not one who hates me who is magnifying himself against me; or I would hide myself from him. 13 But it is you, a man of my rank, my friend and my associate. 14 We sweetened counsel together; we marched into the house of God with the throng. 15 Desolation be upon them! They go down into Sheol alive, for evils are among them in their dwelling.

Proverbs 27:5-6

5 Better is revealed reproof than secret love. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a lover, and the kisses of a hated one are plentiful.

Matthew 18:7

7 Woe to the world from its offenses! It is a necessity for the offenses to come, yet woe to that man through whom the offense comes!

Acts 24:16

16 And in this I exercise myself to have always a blameless conscience toward God and men.

James 1:19

19 So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

Ephesians 5:1-33

1 Then be imitators of God, as beloved children, 2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell. 3 But let not fornication, and all uncleanness, or greediness, be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 also baseness, and foolish talking, or joking (the things not becoming), but rather thanksgiving. 5 For be knowing this, that every fornicator, or unclean one, or covetous one, who is an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for through these the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience. 7 Then do not be partners with them; 8 for you then were darkness, but now light in the Lord; walk as children of light. 9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, 10 proving what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them . 12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things being done by them in secret. 13 But all things being exposed by the light are clearly revealed, for everything having been revealed is light. 14 Because of this, He says, Arise, sleeping ones and stand up out of the dead ones, and Christ will shine on you. No OT passage 15 Then watch how carefully you walk, not as unwise, but as wise ones, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 For this reason, do not be foolish, but understanding what the will of the Lord is . 18 And "do not be drunk with wine," in which is debauchery, but be filled by the Spirit, Prov. 23:31 19 speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and praising in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks at all times for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, even to God the Father, 21 having been subject to one another in the fear of God. 22 Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord, 23 because a husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is Head of the church, and He is Savior of the body. 24 But even as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up on its behalf, 26 that He might sanctify it, cleansing it by the washing of the water in the Word, 27 that He might present it to Himself as the glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such things, but that it be holy and without blemish. 28 So, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies, (he loving his wife loves himself), 29 for then no one hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Lord the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. 31 "For this a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh." Gen. 2:24 32 The mystery is great, but I speak as to Christ and as to the church. 33 However, you also, everyone, let each love his wife as himself, and the wife, that she give deference to the husband.

Matthew 7:1-5

1 Do not judge, that you may not be judged; 2 for with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured again to you. 3 But why do you look on the twig that is in the eye of your brother, but do not see the log in your eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother, Allow me to cast out the twig from your eye; and behold, the log is in your eye! 5 Hypocrite, first cast the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to cast the twig out of the eye of your brother.

Galatians 6:1-3

1 Brothers, if a man is taken in some fault, you, the spiritual ones, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering yourself, that you not also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks to be something, he deceives himself, being nothing.

1 Peter 2:23

23 who, having been reviled, did not revile in return; suffering, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who was judging righteously;

Leviticus 19:18

18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am Jehovah.

Proverbs 6:16-19

16 These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul; 17 a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that plots evil plans, feet hurrying to run to mischief, 19 a false witness who breathes lies, and he who causes strife among brothers.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophecies, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give out all my goods, and if I deliver my body that I be burned, but I do not have love, I am not profited anything. 4 Love has patience, is kind; love is not envious; love is not vain, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave indecently, does not pursue its own things, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth. 7 Love quietly covers all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But if there are prophecies, they will be caused to cease; if tongues, they shall cease; if knowledge, it will be caused to cease. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect thing comes, then that which is in part will be caused to cease. 11 When I was an infant, I spoke as an infant, I thought as an infant, I reasoned as an infant. But when I became a man, I caused to cease the things of the infant. 12 For now we see through a mirror in dimness, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will fully know even as I also was fully known. 13 And now faith, hope, and love, these three things remain; but the greatest of these is love.

James 3:16

16 For where jealousy and contention are, there is confusion and every foul deed.

Ephesians 4:2-3

2 with all humility and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Matthew 18:15-17

15 But if your brother sins against you, go and reprove him between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not hear, take one or two more with you, "so that on the mouth of two" or "three witnesses every word may stand". Deut. 19:15 17 But if he fails to hear them, tell it to the church. And if he also fails to hear the church, let him be to you as the nations and the tax collector.

Luke 17:3-4

3 Take heed to yourselves. And if your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if seven times of the day he sins against you, and seven times of the day turns to you saying, I repent, you shall forgive him.

Proverbs 18:19

19 An offended brother is worse than a fortified city; yea, their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Ecclesiastes 7:21-22

21 Also, do not give your heart to all the words they speak, that you not hear your servant cursing you. 22 For also your own heart knows that you yourself have also cursed others many times.

Proverbs 19:11

11 A man's discretion makes his anger slow, and his glory is to pass over a transgression.
