¹⁷ Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your leaders eat in due time, in strength, and not in drinking.

¹ But the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, cleaving to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons, ² in lying speakers in hypocrisy, being seared in their own conscience, ³ forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods, which God created for partaking with thanksgiving by the believers and those knowing the truth. ⁴ Because every creature of God is good, and nothing to be thrust away, but having been received with thanksgiving; ⁵ for through God's Word and prayerful intercourse, it is sanctified. ⁶ Having suggested these things to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, having been nourished by the words of faith, and by the good doctrine which you have followed.

¹² And the earth bore tender sprouts, the plant seeding seed according to its kind, and the fruit tree producing fruit according to its kind, whichever seed is in it. And God saw that it was good.

¹³ The lazy one says, A lion is in the way, a lion is between the streets! ¹⁴ As the door turns on its hinge, so the lazy one on his bed. ¹⁵ The lazy one buries his hand in the dish, he is weary to bring it back to his mouth. ¹⁶ The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven that return a wise answer.

²⁵ The lust of the lazy man kills him, for his hands have refused to work. ²⁶ He lusts with lust all the day long, but the righteous gives and does not withhold.

¹¹ It is not that which has entered into the mouth that defiles the man, but that which has come out of the mouth, this defiles the man.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves that your hearts not be loaded down with headaches, and drinking, and anxieties of life, and that day come suddenly upon you ³⁵ as a snare, for it will come in on all those sitting on the face of all the earth. Isa. 24:17 ³⁶ Then be watchful at every time, begging that you be counted worthy to escape all these things which are about to happen, and to stand before the Son of man.

⁹ Or do you not know that unjust ones will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be led astray, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous ones, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor plunderers shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And some were these things, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹ And receive the one who is weak in the faith, not to judgments of your thoughts. ² One indeed believes to eat all things, but being weak, another one eats vegetables. ³ The one eating, do not despise the one not eating. And the one not eating, do not judge the one eating, for God received him. ⁴ Who are you judging another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. But he will stand, for God is able to make him stand. ⁵ One indeed judges a day above another day; and another one judges every day alike . Let each one be fully assured in his own mind. ⁶ The one minding the day, he minds it to the Lord. And the one not minding the day, he does not mind it to the Lord. The one eating, he eats to the Lord; for he gives thanks to God. And the one not eating, he does not eat to the Lord, and gives thanks to God. ⁷ For no one of us lives to himself and no one dies to himself. ⁸ For both if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Then both if we live, and if we die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For this Christ both died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord over both the dead and the living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? Or why also do you despise your brother? For all shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ¹¹ For it has been written, " As I live, says the Lord, that every knee will bow to Me, and every tongue confess to God." Isa. 49:18; 45:23 ¹² So then each one of us will give account concerning himself to God. ¹³ Then let us no longer judge one another, but rather judge this, not to put a stumbling-block or an offense toward a brother. ¹⁴ I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing by itself is common; except to the one counting anything to be common, it is common. ¹⁵ But if your brother is grieved because of your food, you no longer walk according to love. Do not by your food destroy that one for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Then do not let your good be spoken evil of. ¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ For the one serving Christ in these things is pleasing to God, and approved by men. ¹⁹ So then let us pursue the things of peace, and the things for building up one another. ²⁰ Do not by your food undo the work of God. Truly, all things are clean, but it is bad to the man who eats through a stumbling-block. ²¹ It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything by which your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is weak. ²² Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Blessed is the one not condemning himself in what he approves. ²³ But the one doubting, if he eats, he has been condemned, because it is not of faith; and whatever is not of faith is sin.

⁴ But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ You are all sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness. ⁶ So then, we should not sleep, as the rest also do, but we should watch and be sober. ⁷ For those sleeping sleep by night, and those having been drunk are drunk by night. ⁸ But we being of day should be sober, "having put on the breastplate" of faith and love, and the hope of "salvation as a helmet;" Isa. 59:17

⁵ But you be clear-minded in all, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

¹³ Because of this, having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, perfectly hope on the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, ¹⁴ as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves to your former lusts in your ignorance, ¹⁵ but according to the Holy One who has called you, you also become holy in all conduct; ¹⁶ because it has been written, "Be holy," "because I am holy." Lev. 19:2

⁵ For this cause I left you in Crete, that you might set in order the things lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I ordered you: ⁶ If anyone is blameless, husband of one wife, having faithful children, not in accusation of loose behavior, or disobedient, ⁷ (for the overseer must be blameless as a steward of God), not self-pleasing, not prone to anger, not given to wine, not a quarreler, not greedy of ill gain; ⁸ but hospitable, a lover of good, discreet, just, holy, temperate, ⁹ clinging to the faithful word according to the teaching, that he may be able both to encourage by sound doctrine and to convict the ones contradicting.

⁴ Everyone practicing sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. ⁵ And you know that He was revealed that He might take away our sins, and sin is not in Him. ⁶ Everyone remaining in Him does not sin. Everyone sinning has not seen Him, nor known Him. ⁷ Little children, let no one lead you astray; the one practicing righteousness is righteous, even as that One is righteous. ⁸ The one practicing sin is of the Devil, because the Devil sins from the beginning. For this the Son of God was revealed, that He undo the works of the Devil. ⁹ Everyone who has been begotten of God does not sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ By this the children of God and the children of the Devil are revealed: Everyone not practicing righteousness is not of God; also the one not loving his brother.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, wild parties, and things like these; of which I tell you beforehand, as I also said before, that the ones practicing such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, ²³ meekness, self-control. Against such things there is not a law. ²⁴ But the ones belonging to Christ crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in carousings and drunkennesses, not in co-habitation and lustful acts, not in fighting and envy. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take thought beforehand for the lusts of the flesh.

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God, and you are not of yourselves? ²⁰ You were bought with a price; then glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are of God.

¹⁸ And "do not be drunk with wine," in which is debauchery, but be filled by the Spirit, Prov. 23:31

¹ Therefore, Christ having suffered for us in the flesh, also you arm yourselves with the same thought, that he suffering in the flesh has been made to rest from sin, ² for him no longer to live in the lusts of men, but to live the remaining time in the flesh in the will of God. ³ For the time of life having passed is sufficient for us to have worked out the will of the nations, having gone on in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, parties, carousings, and unlawful idolatries; ⁴ in which they are surprised, you not running with them into the same overflow of unsavedness, blaspheming; ⁵ who will give account to Him having readiness to judge the living and dead. ⁶ For to this end also the gospel was preached to the dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but might live according to God in the Spirit.

¹ But you speak things which become sound doctrine: ² aged men to be temperate, sensible, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience; ³ aged women likewise in reverent behavior, not slanderers, not having been enslaved by much wine, teachers of good, ⁴ that they might train the young women to be lovers of husbands, lovers of children, ⁵ discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God may not be blasphemed, ⁶ the younger men in the same way exhort to be discreet; ⁷ having shown yourself a pattern of good works about all things in doctrine, in purity, sensibleness, incorruption, ⁸ in sound speech, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may he ashamed, having nothing bad to say about you.

²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant seeding seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree seeding seed; it shall be food for you.

³ Every creeping thing which is alive shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green plant.

⁸ Be sensible, watch, because your adversary the Devil walks about as a roaring lion seeking someone he may devour;
