²⁶ For what will a man be benefited if he should gain the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his soul?

⁵ And they do all their works to be seen by men. And they make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their robes. ⁶ And they love the first couch in the suppers, and the first seats in the synagogues, ⁷ and the greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

⁸ Again the Devil takes Him to a very high mountain, and he showed to Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. ⁹ And he said to Him. I will give all these things to You if falling down, You will worship me. ¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan! For it has been written: "You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve Him only." Deut. 6:13

¹⁶ minding the same thing toward one another, not minding high things, but yielding to the lowly. Do not become wise within yourselves.

²⁰ And so eagerly striving to preach the gospel where Christ was not named, so that I should not build on another's foundation,

⁸ Watch that there not be one robbing you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ.

² You desire greatly and do not have. You murder, and are jealous, and are not able to obtain. You fight and you war, and you do not have, because you do not ask God .

⁴⁴ How are you able to believe, you who receive glory from one another, and the glory which is from the only God you do not seek?

⁴ each not looking at their own things, but each also at the things of others.

¹ From where do wars and fightings among you come ? Is it not from this, from your lusts warring in your members? ² You desire greatly and do not have. You murder, and are jealous, and are not able to obtain. You fight and you war, and you do not have, because you do not ask God .

⁹ But those having purposed to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and loss.

¹⁶ because all that which is in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

¹² And whoever will exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever will humble himself shall be exalted.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

²⁵ For what is a man profited gaining the whole world but destroying himself or suffering loss?
