⁹ 'You have looked for much, and look! It came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh of hosts. 'Because my house is desolate and you are running each to your own house!

³² "And if you love those who love you, what kind of credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them! ³³ And if* you do good to those who do good to you, what kind of credit is that to you? Even the sinners do the same! ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive back, what kind of credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, so that they may get back an equal amount!

³⁵ I have shown you with respect to all things that by* working hard in this way it is necessary to help those who are in need, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."*

¹ But we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let each one of us please his neighbor for his good, for the purpose of edification. ³ For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."*

²⁶ We must not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.

¹⁶ And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

⁴ No one who serves as a soldier is entangled in the activities of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him.

² Carry the burdens of one another, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

²¹ For they all seek _⌊their own interests_⌋*, not those of Jesus Christ.

¹ From where are conflicts and from where are quarrels among you? Is it not from this, from your pleasures that wage war among your members? ² You desire and do not have; you murder and are filled with envy, and are not able to obtain; you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, ⁵ it does not behave dishonorably, it _⌊is not selfish_⌋*, it does not become angry, it does not keep a record of wrongs, ⁶ it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth,

³ Do nothing according to selfish ambition or according to empty conceit, but in humility considering one another better than yourselves, ⁴ each of you* not looking out for _⌊your own interests_⌋*, but also each of you for _⌊the interests_⌋* of others.

²⁴ Let no one seek _⌊his own good_⌋* but the good of the other.

¹⁷ But whoever has the world's material possessions and observes his brother _⌊in need_⌋* and shuts his heart against him, how does the love of God reside in him?

² for people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ hardhearted, irreconcilable, slanderous, without self-control, savage, with no interest for what is good, ⁴ traitors, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God,

⁴ each of you* not looking out for _⌊your own interests_⌋*, but also each of you for _⌊the interests_⌋* of others.
