²¹ And Isaac prayed to Yahweh on behalf of his wife, for she was barren. And Yahweh responded to his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹⁶ To the woman he said,
"I will greatly increase _⌊your pain in childbearing_⌋;* in pain you shall bear children. And to your husband shall be your desire. And he shall rule over you."

¹ And Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said. And Yahweh did to Sarah as he had promised. ² And she conceived, and Sarah bore to Abraham a son in his old age at the appointed time that God had told him.

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.

²² " 'And if men fight and they injure a pregnant woman, and her children go out and there is not serious injury, he will surely be fined as the woman's husband demands concerning him _⌊and as the judges determine_⌋.* ²³ And if there is serious injury, you will give life in place of life, ²⁴ eye in place of eye, tooth in place of tooth, hand in place of hand, foot in place of foot, ²⁵ burn in place of burn, wound in place of wound, bruise in place of bruise.

¹³ Indeed you created my _⌊inward parts_⌋;* you wove me in my mother's womb. ¹⁴ I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.* Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it well.

²⁵ May your father and your mother be glad, and may she who bore you rejoice.

²⁸ Her children rise and consider her happy, her husband* also, and he praises her;

¹⁴ And _⌊you will experience joy and exultation_⌋,* and many will rejoice at his birth.

¹¹ And the angel of Yahweh said to her:
"Behold, you are pregnant and shall have a son. And you shall call his name Ishmael, for Yahweh has listened to your suffering.

⁹ He causes the barren woman of the house to dwell as the happy mother of children. Praise Yah!*

²⁹ For behold, days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that did not give birth, and the breasts that did not nurse!'

¹⁵ Did not he who made me in the womb make them? And did not one fashion us in the womb?

¹³ Indeed you created my _⌊inward parts_⌋;* you wove me in my mother's womb.

⁵ Just as you do not know how the path of the wind* goes, nor how the bones of a fetus form in a mother's womb, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling, refrain from having compassion on the child of her womb? Indeed, these may forget, but* I, I will not forget you!

⁴⁴ For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy! ⁴⁵ And blessed is she who believed that there will be a fulfillment to what was spoken to her from the Lord!"

⁵ "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you came out from the womb I consecrated you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, experiences pain because her hour has come. But when her* child is born, she no longer remembers the affliction, on account of the joy that a human being has been born into the world.

³ Look, children* are the heritage* of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is a reward.

⁴ And the word of Yahweh came to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* ⁵ "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you came out from the womb I consecrated you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
