Bible verses about "honor" | LEB

Exodus 20:12

12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that your days can be long on the land that Yahweh your God is giving you.

Psalms 1:1-6

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the advice of the wicked; nor does he stand in the way of sinners; nor does he sit in the assembly of mockers. 2 Instead, in the law of Yahweh is his delight, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 And so, he is like a tree planted by streams of water that gives its fruit in its season; its leaf also does not wither. Therefore all that he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked. Instead, they are like the chaff that the wind scatters. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for Yahweh knows the way of the righteous,* but the way of the wicked will perish.

Proverbs 3:9

9 Honor Yahweh from your substance,* and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you,

1 Peter 2:17-19

17 Honor all people, love the community of believers, fear God, honor the king.* 18 Domestic slaves, be subject to your* masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unjust. 19 For this finds favor, if because of consciousness of God someone endures sorrows while* suffering unjustly.

Ephesians 6:1-4

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother" (which is the first* commandment with a promise), 3 "in order that it may be well with you, and you may live a long time* on the earth."* 4 And fathers, do not make your children angry, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

2 Timothy 2:21

21 Therefore, if someone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

18 Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, and want to conduct ourselves commendably in every way.

Deuteronomy 5:16

16 'Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you, so that it will be good for you* in the land* that Yahweh your God is giving to you.

Romans 12:9-13

9 Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; be attached to what is good, 10 being devoted to one another in brotherly love, esteeming one another more highly in honor, 11 not lagging in diligence, being enthusiastic in spirit, serving the Lord, 12 rejoicing in hope, enduring in affliction, being devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality.

Romans 13:1-7

1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except by God, and those that exist are put in place by God. 2 So then, the one who resists authority resists the ordinance which is from God, and those who resist will receive condemnation on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of terror for a good deed, but for bad conduct. So do you want not to be afraid of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from it, 4 for it is God's servant to you for what is good. But if you do what is bad, be afraid, because it does not bear the sword to no purpose. For it is God's servant, the one who avenges for punishment on the one who does what is bad. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities* are servants of God, busily engaged in this very thing. 7 Pay to everyone what is owed: pay taxes to whom taxes are due; pay customs duties to whom customs duties are due; pay respect to whom respect is due; pay honor to whom honor is due.*

1 Timothy 5:17-18

17 The elders who lead well must be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor by speaking and teaching. 18 For the scripture says, "You must not muzzle an ox while it* is threshing,"* and "The worker is worthy of his wages."*

Hebrews 13:4

4 Marriage must be held in honor by all, and the marriage bed be undefiled, because God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers.

1 Samuel 2:30

30 Therefore,' declares* Yahweh the God of Israel, 'though I solemnly said that your house and the house of your ancestor* would walk before me forever, but now,' declares* Yahweh, 'far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me, I will treat with contempt!

1 Timothy 1:17

17 Now to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, to the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever*. Amen.
