⁴ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine; no more can you, unless you abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

¹⁵ If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be warmed and filled; notwithstanding you give them not those things which are necessary to the body; what does it profit? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. ¹⁸ Yes, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ¹⁹ You believe that there is one God; you are doing well: the devils also believe, and tremble. ²⁰ But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

² Fulfill you my joy, that you be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

⁸ And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins.
