⁴² But Jesus called them to him, and says unto them, You know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. ⁴³ But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: ⁴⁴ And whosoever of you will be the chief, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

¹¹ I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.

¹² For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

³ Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

² And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit you to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

¹⁷ Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we do not quit.

¹² So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know you what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Master and Lord: and you say well; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

²⁴ And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. ²⁵ And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. ²⁶ But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve. ²⁷ For whether is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? is not he that sits at food? but I am among you as he that serves.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. ¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; ¹¹ Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; ¹² Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; ¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

¹ This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desires a good work. ² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ³ Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; ⁴ One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; ⁵ (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) ⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. ⁷ Moreover he must have a good report of those who are outside; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

²⁵ But Jesus called them unto him, and said, You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; ²⁷ And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: ²⁸ Just as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

¹² Let no man despise your youth; but be an example of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
