⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.

⁸ But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully; ⁹ Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, ¹⁰ For fornicators, for homosexuals, for slave traders, for liars, for perjurers, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; ¹¹ According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

³⁷ But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these comes from evil.

¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks what is right.

¹⁷ He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness: but a false witness, deceit.
