¹ [A song of ascents. Of David.] Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ² It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; ³ As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life forevermore.

¹³ You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. ¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵ Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

²⁵ That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. ²⁶ And whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. ⁴ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not a thing to be grasped to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ¹³ For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. ¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and disputing: ¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; ¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

³⁷ Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are idle, encourage the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

³ For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith. ⁴ For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: ⁵ So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. ⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; ⁷ Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; ⁸ Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it in simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness. ⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. ¹⁰ Be tender loving one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; ¹¹ Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; ¹² Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; constant in prayer; ¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

⁹ Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. ¹⁰ For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falls; for he has not another to help him up. ¹¹ Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? ¹² And if one prevails against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

⁴² And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. ⁴³ And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. ⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common; ⁴⁵ And sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all men, as every man had need. ⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and sincerity of heart, ⁴⁷ Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as were being saved.

² Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

²⁴ And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: ²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.
