² And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? trying him. ³ And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? ⁴ And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. ⁵ And Jesus answered and said unto them, For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. ⁶ But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. ⁷ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, ⁸ and the two shall become one flesh; so that they are no more two, but one flesh. ⁹ What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. ¹⁰ And in the house the disciples asked him again of the same matter.

¹⁸ My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue, but in deed and truth.

¹⁶ Confess your trespasses one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.

¹ In like manner, the wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, that, even if any obey not the word, they without the word shall be gained by the behavior of their wives,

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it,

⁴ Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
