⁹ Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of My house that lieth waste, while ye run every man for his own house.

³² And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them. ³³ And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.

¹ Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, unto edifying. ³ For Christ also pleased not himself, but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell upon me.

³⁵ In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁶ For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.

¹⁶ But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

²⁶ Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

⁴ No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

²¹ For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.

² Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

¹ Whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members? ² Ye lust, and have not; ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war, ye have not, because ye ask not.

⁴ Love suffereth long, and is kind, love envieth not, love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil, ⁶ rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth,

³ doing nothing through faction or through vainglory, but in lowliness of mind each counting other better than himself, ⁴ not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

²⁴ Let no man seek his own, but each his neighbor's good.

¹⁷ But whoso hath the world's goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?

² For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

⁴ not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
