¹ My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbour, if thou hast struck thy hands for a stranger - ² Thou art snared by the words of thy mouth, thou art caught by the words of thy mouth - ³ Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbour; go, humble thyself, and urge thy neighbour. ⁴ Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. ⁵ Deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁵ Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth, that ordereth his affairs rightfully.

¹⁹ (23:20) Thou shalt not lend upon interest to thy brother: interest of money, interest of victuals, interest of any thing that is lent upon interest.

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

⁸ But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁷ The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
