¹⁷ (34:18) They cried, and the LORD heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles. ¹⁸ (34:19) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. ¹⁹ (34:20) Many are the ills of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written aforetime for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.

²⁸ And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.

³ Thou, therefore, suffer hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

¹² Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

¹⁰ But thou didst follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience, ¹¹ persecutions, sufferings. What things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra, what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. ¹² Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

⁸ But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

¹³ but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ Even as it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long, We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter. ³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁸ If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you, if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

² Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations, ³ Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience. ⁴ And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.
