⁵ When a man taketh a new wife, he shall not go out in the host, neither shall he be charged with any business; he shall be free for his house one year, and shall cheer his wife whom he hath taken.

⁷ And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.'

³ And the LORD said unto him: 'I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before Me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put My name there for ever; and Mine eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

¹⁴ House and riches are the inheritance of fathers; but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

⁴ Since thou art precious in My sight, and honourable, and I have loved thee; therefore will I give men for thee, and peoples for thy life.

⁶ So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

³ All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that hath been made.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.

²² Whoso findeth a wife findeth a great good, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

⁶ Set me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thine arm; for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave; the flashes thereof are flashes of fire, a very flame of the LORD.

¹² This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you.

¹⁰ But unto the married I give charge, yea not I, but the Lord, That the wife depart not from her husband

⁸ and the two shall become one flesh; so that they are no more two, but one flesh.

¹ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. ² And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. ³ And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing. ⁴ Love suffereth long, and is kind, love envieth not, love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil, ⁶ rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth, ⁷ beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. ⁸ Love never faileth; but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away, whether there be tongues, they shall cease, whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away. ⁹ For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, ¹⁰ but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child; now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things. ¹² For now we see in a mirror, darkly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known. ¹³ But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three, and the greatest of these is love.

³ Will two walk together, except they have agreed?

⁹ What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

¹⁹ (2:21) And I will betroth thee unto Me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto Me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in compassion. ²⁰ (2:22) And I will betroth thee unto Me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know the LORD.

¹⁴ and above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.

⁹ Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
