¹⁰ Whatsoever thy hand attaineth to do by thy strength, that do; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

¹¹ Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing. ¹² For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.

¹⁷ But whoso hath the world's goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue, but in deed and truth.

⁶ and without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.

¹ But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that aught be written unto you. ² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. ³ When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall in no wise escape. ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief: ⁵ for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness, ⁶ so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. ⁹ For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁰ who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. ¹¹ Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.

³⁸ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ³⁹ And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words. ⁴⁰ And when he returned, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy, and they knew not what to answer him. ⁴¹ And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest; it is enough, the hour is come, behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

³⁹ Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life, and these are they which bear witness of me, ⁴⁰ and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

¹⁷ To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

¹⁹ The way of the sluggard is as though hedged by thorns; but the path of the upright is even.

⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good. ¹⁰ In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another, in honor preferring one another, ¹¹ in diligence not slothful, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, ¹² rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing stedfastly in prayer, ¹³ communicating to the necessities of the saints, given to hospitality.

¹⁵ I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. ¹⁶ So because thou art lukewarm, and not hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts, ⁴ and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables.

² Be thou watchful, and establish the things that remain, which thou wast about to cast away; for I have found no works of thine perfected before my God.

¹² And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart: 'The LORD will not do good, neither will He do evil.' ¹³ Therefore their wealth shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation; yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof.

¹¹ in diligence not slothful, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord,

¹⁶ So because thou art lukewarm, and not hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
