¹ Jesus is Raised from the Dead
After the Sabbaths, around dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to take a look at the burial site. ² Suddenly, there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it. ³ His appearance was bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. ⁴ Trembling from fear, even the guards themselves became catatonic.
⁵ Responding to the women, the angel said, “Stop being frightened! I know you’re looking for Jesus, who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here. He has been raised, just as he said. Come and see the place where he was lying. ⁷ Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. He is going ahead of you into Galilee, and you will see him there. Remember, I have told you!”
⁸ So they quickly left the tomb, terrified but also ecstatic, and ran to tell Jesus’ disciples. ⁹ Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They went up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him. ¹⁰ Then Jesus told them, “Stop being frightened! Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”
¹¹ The Guards Report to the High PriestsWhile the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the high priests everything that had happened. ¹² So they met with the elders and agreed on a plan to give the soldiers a large amount of money. ¹³ They said, “Say that Jesus’ disciples came at night and stole him while you were sleeping. ¹⁴ If this is reported to the governor, we’ll personally persuade him to keep you out of trouble.” ¹⁵ So the soldiers took the money, did as they were instructed, and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
¹⁶ Jesus Commissions His Disciples
The eleven disciples went into Galilee to the hillside to which Jesus had directed them. ¹⁷ When they saw him, they worshipped him, though some had doubts. ¹⁸ Then Jesus approached them and told them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹ Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age.”

¹¹ “When the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.

²⁴ But God raised him up and put an end to suffering of death, since it was impossible for him to be held by it, ²⁵ since David says about him, ‘I always keep my eyes on the Lord, for he is at my right hand so that I cannot be shaken. ²⁶ That is why my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices, yes, even my body still rests securely in hope. ²⁷ For you will not abandon my soul to Hades or allow your Holy One to experience decay. ²⁸ You have made the ways of life known to me, and you will fill me with gladness in your presence.’
²⁹ “Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and that his tomb is among us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore, since he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him with an oath to put one of his descendants on his throne, ³¹ he looked ahead and spoke about the resurrection of the Messiah: ‘He was not abandoned to Hades, and his flesh did not experience decay.’ ³² “It was this very Jesus whom God raised—and we’re all witnesses of that. ³³ He has been exalted to the right hand of God, has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, and has caused you to experience what you are seeing and hearing. ³⁴ After all, David did not go up to heaven, but he said, ‘The Lord told my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies your footstool.”’
³⁶ “Therefore, let all the people of Israel understand beyond a doubt that God made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!”

⁹ But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people to be his very own and to proclaim the wonderful deeds of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

¹ The Vision of the New Heaven and the New EarthThen I saw a new heaven and a new earth, because the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and the sea was gone. ² I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
³ I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See, the tent of God is among humans! He will make his home with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God. ⁴ He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There won’t be death anymore. There won’t be any grief, crying, or pain, because the first things have disappeared.”

¹³ “Who are these people wearing white robes,” one of the elders asked me, “and where did they come from?”

¹¹ Each of them was given a white robe. They were told to rest a little longer until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers was completed, who would be killed as they themselves had been.

⁹ The Vision of Tribulation SaintsAfter these things, I looked, and there was a crowd so large that no one was able to count it! They were from every nation, tribe, people, and language. They were standing in front of the throne and the lamb and were wearing white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

¹⁴ “How blessed are those who wash their robes so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city!

¹⁰ Rejoicing in God’s Deliverance“I will heartily rejoice in the LORD, my soul will delight in my God; for he has wrapped me in garments of salvation; he has arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, just like a bridegroom, like a priest with a garland, and like a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
