¹ BOOK I (Psalms 1-41)
The Righteous and the Wicked How blessed is the person, who does not take the advice of the wicked, who does not stand on the path with sinners, and who does not sit in the seat of mockers. ² But he delights in the LORD’s instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night. ³ He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. He will prosper in everything he does. ⁴ But this is not the case with the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. ⁵ Therefore the wicked will not escape judgment, nor will sinners have a place in the assembly of the righteous. ⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.

²³ Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.

¹³ How the Thessalonians Welcomed the GospelHere is another reason why we constantly give thanks to God: When you received God’s word, which you heard from us, you did not accept it as the word of humans but for what it really is—the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

²⁰ First of all, you must understand this: No prophecy in Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, ²¹ because no prophecy ever originated through a human decision. Instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

² Now it is required of servant managers that each one should prove to be trustworthy. ³ It is a very small thing to me that I should be examined by you or by any human court. In fact, I don’t even evaluate myself. ⁴ For my conscience is clear, but that does not vindicate me. It is the Lord who examines me.

¹² For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart.

¹⁰ Whoever is faithful with very little is also faithful with a lot, and whoever is dishonest with very little is also dishonest with a lot.
